adjacent to the power supply cord.

Exposure to extremely high noise levels may cause permanent hearing loss. Individuals vary considerably
in susceptibility to noise-induced hearing loss, but nearly everyone will lose some hearing if exposed to
sufficiently intense noise for a sufficient time. The U.S. Government’s Occupational and Health
Administration (OSHA) has specified the following permissible noise level exposures:

According to OSHA, any exposure in excess to the above permissible limits could result in some hearing loss. Ear plugs
or protectors in the ear canals or over the ears must be worn when operating this amplification system in order to
prevent a permanent hearing loss, if exposure is in excess to the limits as set forth above. To ensure against potentially
dangerous exposure to high sound pressure levels, it is recommended that all persons exposed to equipment capable of
producing high sound pressure levels such as this amplification system be protected by hearing protectors while this
unit is in operation.

Description
UMA™ Mixer/Amplifiers
The UMA 352, 752, and 1502 are high quality, commercial grade analog audio mixer/amplifiers.
Designed for flexibility in application, these mixer/amps represent the latest, state-of-the-art
technology in analog circuit design.
Powerful, yet easy to use, the new UMA series delivers amazing sonic performance. Low-noise
design and features applicable to “real-world” situations make these units ideal for audio
applications where a compact, powered mixer with multiple input and output capabilities are
required.
This manual was written to provide as much information as possible for your new Peavey
Architectural Acoustics product. It is our sincere desire that you enjoy your purchase.
We feel that the best way to fully enjoy any purchase is to have an in-depth understanding of the
product’s features, functionality, and performance characteristics. We hope that this manual,

INPUT CHANNEL LEVEL CONTROLS:
These rotary controls set the channel signal level sent to the mix bus.

INPUT CHANNEL MUTE INDICATORS:
These red LEDs indicate that the corresponding channel is muted.
3.
INPUT CHANNEL SIGNAL STATUS INDICATORS:
These bi-color LEDs indicate signal presence (-20 dBu) via green illumination, and
imminent clipping (2 dB below clipping point) via red illumination.
4.
LOW EQ (BASS):
This rotary control varies low frequency response from +10 dB to -10 dB at 100 Hz. It is a
shelving-type active control and delivers a flat response in the center “0” position.
5.
HIGH EQ (TREBLE):
This rotary control varies high frequency response from +10 dB to -10 dB at 10 kHz. It is
a shelving-type active control and delivers a flat response in the center “0” position.
6.
SIGNAL LEVEL INDICATOR:
This green LED will illuminate as an indication of signal presence at the amplifier
output.
7.
SPS™ INDICATOR:
This yellow LED will illuminate as an indication of SPS activation. SPS is a compression
circuit that senses signal conditions that have the potential to overload the amp, and
reduces the system gain when clipping is imminent.
8.
MASTER LEVEL:
This rotary control sets the overall signal level of the system.
9.
POWER INDICATOR:
This green LED illuminates as an indication that mains power is being applied to the
unit.

IEC CONNECTOR:
This receptacle is for the IEC line cord (included) that provides AC power to the unit.
Never break off the ground pin on any equipment. It is provided for your safety.
If the outlet used does not have a ground pin, a suitable grounding adapter should be
used and the third wire should be grounded properly. To prevent the risk of shock or fire
hazard, always be sure that the mixer and all associated equipment is properly
grounded.
Note for UK only
If the colors of the wires in the mains lead of this unit do not correspond with the colored
markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: (1) The wire that is colored
green and yellow must be connected to the terminal that is marked by the letter E, the earth
symbol, colored green, or colored green and yellow. (2) The wire that is colored blue must be
connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter N or the color black. (3) The wire that is
colored brown must be connected to the terminal that is marked with the letter L or the color
red.

AC OUTLET (120 V models only):
This unswitched outlet provides power for auxiliary equipment with power consumption
of less than 300 W.
CAUTION: This outlet is not controlled by the Power Switch (#13)!

FUSE:
The fuse is located within the cap of the fuse holder. If the fuse fails, IT MUST BE
REPLACED WITH THE SAME TYPE AND VALUE IN ORDER TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE
EQUIPMENT AND TO PREVENT VOIDING THE WARRANTY. If the amp repeatedly blows
the fuse, it should be taken to a qualified service center for repair.
WARNING: The fuse should only be replaced when the power cord has been
disconnected from its power source!

POWER SWITCH:
This rocker switch applies mains power to the unit.
14.
OUTPUTS:
A direct output and transformer-isolated outputs are provided to allow proper interface
between the amplifier and the loudspeaker system. The direct output allows connection
to a 4-Ohm speaker system. To use this output disconnect the jumper between the
4-Ohm terminal and the XFMR terminal. Connect the loudspeaker system to the 4-Ohm
and GND terminals. For XFMR isolated outputs, ensure jumper is connected and connect
load between desired output and COM.
15.
REMOTE VOLUME CONTROL (RVC):
These connections allow the use of a remote master volume control. For complete
command of the volume from the remote control, the front panel Master Level

control (#8) must be set at its maximum “10” position. The remote volume control
should be connected as shown in Fig. 1, with the clockwise terminal connected to the
shield (SHD); the wiper connected to the control (C); and the counterclockwise terminal
connected to the voltage (V). Using a 10 k Ohm potentiometer will provide
approximately 30 dB attenuation, while using a 100 k Ohm potentiometer will provide
approximately 60 dB attenuation.

EXTERNAL MUTING:
These connections provide for an external switch closure to activate the mute buses. A
switch closure from terminal 1 to shield (SHD) mutes the input channels assigned to the
mute 1 bus. A switch closure from terminal 2 to shield (SHD) mutes the input channels
assigned to the mute 2 bus.

CHANNEL 4 INPUT:
This is an electronically balanced line input on a removable connector. The input
sensitivity is 100 mV. Channel 4 is always assigned to the mute 2 bus that is activated
by a channel 1 input signal exceeding the mute 2 threshold voltage as set by control
#32.

CHANNEL 2 INPUT:
This is an electronically balanced microphone or line input on a removable connector.
Input sensitivity is switchable between 1 mV (Mic) and 100 mV (Line) via control #19.
The microphone input has 24 V phantom power.
19.
CHANNEL 2 INPUT SENSITIVITY:
This switch configures the Channel 2 Input (#18) to accept either microphone or linelevel input signals. The “In” position is Line mode, with an input sensitivity of
100 mV. The “Out” position is Mic mode, with an input sensitivity of 1 mV. In the Mic
mode, 24 V phantom power is applied to the input.
Note: Do not operate this switch while unit is powered up!
20.
CHANNEL 1 XLR INPUT:
This connector is wired parallel with the balanced Microphone Input (#30). Pin 2
corresponds to the MIC (+) on the removable connector.

LOOP:
In the “Out” position, this switch bypasses any external processing loop by internally
connecting the Preamp Out (#22) to the Power Amp In (#23). Engaging the switch
enables any external effects loop by internally disconnecting the preamp out from the
power amp in. The line-level preamplifier can be used regardless of this switch setting.

PREAMP OUT:
This connection provides a line-level output of the post-EQ and master level mix to drive
external devices such as signal processors, hearing assistance systems, and/or
recording equipment.

POWER AMP IN:
This connection provides a direct input to the power amplifier with an input sensitivity
of 1 Volt. Using the Preamp Out (#22) and engaging the Loop switch (#21), a signal
processor(s) can be inserted between the mixer and the power amplifier.
24.
CHANNEL 4 OUTPUT:
This is an electronically balanced output on a removable connector. It provides a direct
output of Channel 4, independent of muting and front panel control and is ideal for MOH
applications.
25.
CHANNEL 4 RCA INPUT JACKS:
These inputs are resistively summed to mono, and are in parallel with the removable
input connector of Channel 4.

CHANNEL 4 OUTPUT LEVEL:
This control sets the level of the Channel 4 Output (#24). It adds up to 10 dB of gain to
the Channel 4 input signal.
27.
CHANNEL 3 INPUT:
This is an electronically balanced line input on a removable connector. The input
sensitivity is 100 mV. Channel 3 is always assigned to the mute 2 bus that is activated
by a Channel 1 input signal that exceeds the mute 2 threshold voltage as set by control
#32.

CHANNEL 2 MUTE BUS ASSIGN:
In the “Out” position (Active), this switch assigns Channel 2 to the mute 2 bus. The
mute 2 bus is activated by a Channel 1 signal exceeding the mute 2 threshold voltage as
set by control #32. Engaging this switch (DEFEAT) prevents Channel 2 from being muted.
29.
CHANNEL 1 INPUT SENSITIVITY:
In the “Out” position (MIC), this switch causes the input signal to channel 1 to be taken
from the Mic screw terminals (#30), or the XLR input (#20). The input is configured to
1 mV sensitivity in this position, and 24 V phantom power is activated. When engaged
(TEL), the input is taken from the Tel screw terminals (#30), and the input sensitivity is
100 mV.
Note: Do not operate this switch while the unit is powered up!
30.
CHANNEL 1 INPUT:
This removable connector allows balanced microphone or telephone input. Input
sensitivity is switchable between 1 mV (Mic), and 100 mV (Tel). The Mic input is
electronically balanced and provides 24 V phantom power. The Tel input is transformer
balanced.
31.
CHANNEL 1 MUTE BUS ASSIGN:
In the “Out” position (ACTIVE), this switch assigns Channel 1 to the mute 1 bus, allowing
channel 1 to be muted by an input module with muting capabilities. Engaging
this switch (DEFEAT) prevents channel 1 from being muted.
32.
MUTE 2 THRESHOLD:
This control sets the level of signal in Channel 1 needed to activate the mute 2 bus.
Turning the control counterclockwise decreases the signal level needed to activate
muting (increases sensitivity). Turning the control clockwise increases the necessary
signal level to activate muting (decreases sensitivity). Full clockwise rotation will
prevent mute 2 bus activation.

MODULE PORT INPUT LEVEL:
This control sets the level of an optional MMA™ plug-in input module signal to the mix
bus.

MODULE PORT:
This space is designed to accept any MMA single-space plug-in module for input or
output signals. For details, refer to the plug-in module instruction manual.
Note: When a MMA input module is used in the module port, it has the highest priority
over the other inputs. Therefore, the utilized input module should be operated in the
master mute mode ONLY. The muting status does not apply to an OUTPUT module.
MUTING PRIORITY STRUCTURE
The Mute 1 bus has priority and control over the Mute 2 bus. A signal that activates the
muting function in the optional MMA plug-in input module with master muting
capability mutes Channels 1 through 4 (Channels 1 and 2 Mute Bus Assign switches
#28 and #31 must be ACTIVE). Activity on Channel 1 will mute Channels 2 through 4
when Channel 1 signal level exceeds the Mute 2 Threshold control setting (Channel 2
Mute Bus Assign switch #28 must be ACTIVE).

Installing R/M Ears
This unit can be rack-mounted in a standard EIA equipment rack with the two included rack ears.
To attach the ears, simply remove the three screws already in the front of each side of the unit
and align the ears with the appropriate mounting holes. It may be desirable to remove the
rubber feet from the bottom of the unit in rack-mount installations. The ears may also be turned
90˚ to mount on the bottom or top of a shelf or for wall mounting. See figures below for
alternate rack ear mounting.
Note: To provide adequate ventilation, leave at least one rack space between units when
multiple amplifiers are mounted in the same equipment rack.

Effective Date: July 1, 1998
What This Warranty Covers
Your Peavey Warranty covers defects in material and workmanship in Peavey products purchased and serviced in the U.S.A. and
Canada.
What This Warranty Does Not Cover
The Warranty does not cover: (1) damage caused by accident, misuse, abuse, improper installation or operation, rental, product
modification or neglect; (2) damage occurring during shipment; (3) damage caused by repair or service performed by persons
not authorized by Peavey; (4) products on which the serial number has been altered, defaced or removed; (5) products not purchased from an Authorized Peavey Dealer.
Who This Warranty Protects
This Warranty protects only the original retail purchaser of the product.
How Long This Warranty Lasts
The Warranty begins on the date of purchase by the original retail purchaser. The duration of the Warranty is as follows:

What Peavey Will Do
We will repair or replace (at Peavey's discretion) products covered by warranty at no charge for labor or materials. If the product or component must be shipped to Peavey for warranty service, the consumer must pay initial shipping charges. If the
repairs are covered by warranty, Peavey will pay the return shipping charges.
How To Get Warranty Service
(1) Take the defective item and your sales receipt or other proof of date of purchase to your Authorized Peavey Dealer or
Authorized Peavey Service Center.
OR
(2) Ship the defective item, prepaid, to Peavey Electronics Corporation, International Service Center, 412 Highway 11 & 80 East,
Meridian, MS 39301 or Peavey Canada Ltd., 95 Shields Court, Markham, Ontario, Canada L3R 9T5. Include a detailed description of the problem, together with a copy of your sales receipt or other proof of date of purchase as evidence of warranty coverage. Also provide a complete return address.
OR
(3) All MediaMatrix® Frames needing repair, should be shipped prepaid to Peavey Electronics Corporation, International Service
Center, 412 Highway 11 & 80 East, Meridian, MS 39301
Limitation of Implied Warranties
ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ARE
LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE LENGTH OF THIS WARRANTY.
Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.
Exclusions of Damages
PEAVEY'S LIABILITY FOR ANY DEFECTIVE PRODUCT IS LIMITED TO THE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE PRODUCT, AT
PEAVEY'S OPTION. IF WE ELECT TO REPLACE THE PRODUCT, THE REPLACEMENT MAY BE A RECONDITIONED UNIT. PEAVEY
SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR DAMAGES BASED ON INCONVENIENCE, LOSS OF USE, LOST PROFITS, LOST SAVINGS, DAMAGE TO
ANY OTHER EQUIPMENT OR OTHER ITEMS AT THE SITE OF USE, OR ANY OTHER DAMAGES WHETHER INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF PEAVEY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
This Warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.
