The CLAAS Axion CVT 180 to 260 hp Tractor
Sometimes you have to break the rules to set new standards
As the leading manufacturer of harvesting machinery, CLAAS only knows too well what’s
important in agriculture. Highest possible comfort, enormous versatility, intelligent
technologies and, last but not least, high economic efficiency – these are the deciding
factors that count for farm contractors.
The new AXION is the perfect example of this. A
tractor with impressive performance, features and
qualities. Available as an option with CMATIC, a
new, continuously variable transmission model,
which impresses with particularly high comfort.
The CMATIC provides a unique driving comfort:
by simply pushing the accelerator pedal, the
ground speed is achieved. Engine speed and
transmission ratio are automatically adjusted to
bring out the best in the AXION – with the lowest
fuel consumption.
The CMATIC transmission is a power split, infinitely variable transmission, in which the
power is mainly mechanical and partly hydrostatic. A hydrostatic unit is used to change
transmission ratio between the four ranges of the mechanical power transmission. This
means that the transmission efficiency remains constantly high over the entire speed range
and fuel consumption remains low.
With a minimum ground speed of only 50m per hour at rated speed, even very slow tasks
can be carried out. The CMATIC transmission is available with a top speed of 50km/h. The
top speed is achieved at a reduced engine speed.
Three different driving strategies are possible: in
AUTOMOTIV mode, start, acceleration and deceleration
are controlled via the throttle; transmission ratio and
engine speed are automatically adapted accordingly. In
DRIVESTICK mode, the speed can be changed using
the DRIVESTICK on the armrest, transmission and
engine are adapted automatically. In MANUAL mode, the
driver can freely select the engine speed using the
throttle and the transmission ratio using the
DRIVESTICK.
All relevant information about the selected speed range
and cruise control speeds are shown on the CEBIS
colour display screen. The CEBIS system can also be
used to make other transmission settings and to infinitely
adjust the engine droop and acceleration.
Whilst CLAAS is world renowned for its combine
harvester and forage harvester machinery, CLAAS tractors have now come of age with its
fully CLAAS designed, manufactured and proven tractor range in New Zealand ranging from
75HP to 380HP.
CLAAS Harvest Centre will be featuring the new AXION CVT during the National Field Days
at Mystery Creek in June alongside the all new CLAAS AXOS all purpose tractor in the 75100hp range and the first CLAAS XERION 380 hp tractor to arrive in New Zealand.
