Centerview Baptist Church in Kannapolis
hosted
the
19th
Annual
Crossover
Kannapolis service. Five area churches
and the Men’s Choir from Teen Challenge
participated; three different denominations
(AME Zion, Church of God and Baptist),
several races and a variety of worship
styles all coming together for the sole
purpose of lifting up our Lord Jesus Christ.
The
service
was
tremendous,
the
auditorium was full and I believe God was
glorified as we sought to crossover the
barriers that sometime divide Christ’s
Church.
Jesus, out of love, came to earth
to die and rise again, not only to save us,
but to make us one family. Galatians 2:28
says ‘there is neither Jew nor Greek…bond
nor free…male nor female: for you are all
one in Christ Jesus.’ Our unity with God
and with one another is a testimony to the
world that God sent Jesus and loves them
even as He loves Him (see John 17:23).
In past years we have also included a
pulpit exchange on the Sunday morning of
Crossover Kannapolis where I preached at
down the street, and their pastor preached
at Centerview. However, last year our whole
congregation went to Marable and they fed
us lunch and we led the worship service at
their location. A few weeks later, Marable
attended Centerview and led the worship
service and we fellowshipped afterwards.
We plan to do the same thing this year in
consecutive weeks in April.
Last year all the churches involved
in Crossover Kannapolis held revival services
at each of the church locations with a
different pastor and congregation leading
the service each evening in someone else’s
congregation.
It too was a wonderful
experience, as God seemed to bless us and
smile down on us, because we were seeking
to crossover barriers that divide us in order to
bring glory to Him. We hope to do a similar
thing in the fall of this year.
