On February 10, we start the season of
Lent with an Ash Wednesday service at
7:00 p.m. For centuries Lent has been
and is now a time of self examination
and spiritual growth. Christians try to
shed that which holds them back from
God and to initiate that which draws
them closer to God. We seek to move
from soul sickness to health.

PRIMETIMERS/PRESCHOOL GAME DAY— for those who didn’t attend this event on January 29th
you missed out on a special time spent with the preschoolers. The teachers
worked very hard with the children teaching them how to conduct an interview.
Some of the questions asked of the primetimers were “what was their favorite
game, color, food, television show, etc.” The highlight of this time was when great
-grandmom, Frances Cairnes, told the children that her first car she remembered
was the Model A Ford, that she walked to school, and she liked asparagus. The
interview session took about 15-20 minutes; then the Primetimers could then play their own games.
The Preschool hopes to schedule another “play-date” in the near future.

Patricia Savage-Bailey,
Wall raising—January 23rd, 2016
The rainy, cold weather kept the ground from being totally cleaned and leveled in
time for the cement foundation to be poured for the Apostle Build House Wall
Raising on Saturday, January 23rd. Nevertheless, over 50 hearty people braved
the cold and wind to participate in a ceremonial Wall Raising with Shantrell and
Shaniah Clayton. Autographed two-by-fours were held up 18 inches apart while
participants touched them and the family proudly and happily stood in front for
photos.
Pastors prayed over the house and the family; and representatives from the
churches added their blessings. Once the foundation is poured, a schedule of
work to be done and workers needed will be available.
In case you would liket to check on the progress, the address is 2154
Cedarwood Drive, Melbourne, FL 32935. It is located in the Booker T.
Washington neighborhood, behind the area where there has been building in the
past and people in that area are not familiar with Cedarwood Drive. Directions
from Route 1: turn west onto Masterson Street, take the first right onto Avocado
Avenue, turn left onto the third street (Swan Street), and the first right off
Swan will take you to 2154 Cedarwood. Questions can be addressed to Barbara
Allen, 777-7052.
