NETBALL
Netball V Yateley Manor U8B
30th January 2013
This was a very windy afternoon !
St. Piran's girls had most of the possession of the ball and
most attempts at shooting at goal. Due to absence we
played out of position but only managed short spells of
play, where we drove into space and moved the ball
effectively. The weather conditions and our opposition’s
use of space, in turn limited what we could do with the
ball, resulting in missed passes and over crowding of the
court. Well done to Taran Sandher who is new to netball,
but made a great effort and is learning quickly. Christa
Scott was 'Girl of the Game'. Petek Miralay's work rate
was super and she achieved Coaches’ Player of the
match.
Score: Yateley Manor - 1 St Piran's - 0
Netball v St.George's U8B
25th January 2013
This was an enjoyable match, which saw St. Piran's
comfortably in the lead. Caitlin Ireland and Tilly Stearns
shared the shooting; they passed well to each other and
scored on most attempts. St. Piran's were 4-0 up by the
2nd quarter. St. George's finally scored their 2 goals in
the last quarter, after a spell of rhythmic play. Maddy
Yates supported nicely as Centre and Wing Attack. Olivia
McKee was quick to pick up loose balls and marked her
opponent confidently. Hannah Gawman provided a
steady link when she played Centre. Well done also to;
Emma Kendall, Maia Sedler, Lucy Fudge and Elissa
Beckinsale.
Final Score: St. Piran's - 8 St. Georges - 2
Great team work, great result!!!
Netball v Yateley Manor U11B
Wed 30th January
Very well done to all the girls for this match, the
gameplay definitely got much better as the match went
on. Olivia Robinson was girl of the game. She totally
earned it with some brilliant dodges and in general,
loads of effort. Connie Thompson also played very well
with some nice interceptions and really good passing.
Charlie deserved a big round of applause as she shot
outstandingly all throughout the match. Avigail has
improved tremendously each match and today she also
stood out. Charlotte C was great and really got the ball
up the court. Michal played well and supported the
whole team with lovely passing. Charlotte M played with
great determination and Sophie B did some lovely
dodging but unfortunately her player was quite tall and
poor Sophie wasn’t really able to shoot L. Yateley Manor
also played very well and to me it was a very evenly

Netball v Yateley Manor U11s
Wednesday 30 January
U11A 11:6 to Yateley Manor
U11B 6:4 to Yateley Manor
This was a tough match but despite a slow start in
both games the girls worked hard and got into 2
close, competitive matches.
It was a vast
improvement from the last time we played Yateley
Manor.
It was encouraging to see the girls try so hard and not
give up. They created some good space but work still
needs to be on passing and catching the ball!
Coaches’ players of the match was Charlotte Burnage
and Sophie Klemmer in the ‘A’ match. Avigail Rahimi
and Sophie Wadsworth in the ‘B’ match. Charlie Fry
was much better at jumping for the ball and moved
well. Olivia Robinson and Deia Ayres were voted
players’ player.
Well done everyone, at times it was clear to see some
lovely netball. There is so much potential and you are
continuing to improve.
Mrs. Holmes and Mrs. Burnage.
SWIMMING
Swimming Gala v St. John’s Beaumont
Tuesday 29th January
269 points v St. Piran’s: 293 points
This was a convincing win with St. Piran’s winning 16
out of the 35 races, drawing 14 and losing only 5!
The score line doesn’t tell the whole story as there
were some very close finishes.
Best swims on the night showing improvement and
determination were by Florence Wilson, Louise
Ashford, Max Kendall, Hannah Dawkins, John
Kennedy, Oliver Moore, Daniel Lewis, Oliver Dawkins,
Katie Haveron Jones, Will Shedden and Eleanor
Meadows.
28 personal best times were recorded which is
incredible and there were many new speed awards
achieved. You should all be proud of your
performances. There were some fast times recorded
and lots of enthusiasm from everyone. Well done to
Eleanor Meadows, our swimming captain, who
supported the team and helped after the gala. Zoe
Subramanian, Charlotte Burnage, Jack Hill and Charlie
Peplow all deserve a mention for their willingness to
help staff and the younger swimmers.
Thank you to all the parents for supporting and to
Mrs. Calliss for timekeeping and place judging.
Thanks also to Mr. Dale and Miss Roscoe, Miss Naish
and Mrs. Mornard, we couldn’t have done it without
you!

Summer Ball 18 May 2013 - if you have not already seen it, please do read our exciting letter on our
webpage which reveals the theme of this year’s Summer Ball – Alice in Wonderland! Tickets go on sale
for one day only on 7 March so it's time to start putting your tables of 10 together.
Bring out your old china teapots, plates and cake stands - Without giving away
any Ball secrets we are asking all parents, grandparents and children to rummage
through their attics and garages for any old china! We are looking for tiered cake stands, teapots and
plates. All donations (not loans!) to be left in Matron's office for collection.
