Sample programme
All lessons focus on communication,
allowing students to improve their
fluency, grammar, listening, reading
and writing.
The classes allow students to study
elements of British culture through
class workshops and project work
relating to some of the activities and
events outside class time.
This not only provides an opportunity
to recycle new language, but also
creates a focus and task through which
to practise it.
We believe that understanding and
learning about cultural differences is
both interesting and necessary when
studying a foreign language.
Our courses are available for
durations from one to four weeks,
and aim to maximise the learning
and educational experience of your
students – you can see our sample
timetable on the next page.
The course plan is designed to
incorporate language development,
in both academic and social contexts,
with cultural excursions and evening
activities which we hope will energise
and motivate your students during
their stay.
Throughout their project work, students practise and
develop useful skills, such as conducting research,
designing surveys, and analysing and presenting data

Meeting British students
What’s it like at the Abbey School?
The Abbey School offers a first-class
education tailored to each child’s
strengths and needs. It is an ambitious
school, which has plans to develop
its facilities within the Faversham
community.
Located in Swale district, the parish of
Faversham grew up around an ancient
sea port on Faversham Creek and
was the birthplace of the explosives
industry in England.
With first-class accommodation,
outstanding attractions, fine food and
drink, as well as wonderful walking
routes, Faversham is an exceptional
place to live, explore and enjoy.
Academic success is important to the
school, which achieved its best results
ever over the last few years, with more
students deciding to pursue sixth form
courses before going on to university.
In addition to academic achievement,
the school aims to build each child’s
confidence by nurturing their self-belief
and encouraging self-esteem, so that
they have all the tools they need to go
out and build a happy and fulfilled life.
Excellent attitude, appearance,
attendance and punctuality are
paramount to achieving good
discipline and, therefore, academic
success. According to its latest Ofsted
assessment, this is a vibrant school
offering exciting opportunities where
every child can flourish.
Historic Faversham
One of England’s most charming and
historic market towns, Faversham is in
the heart of rural Kent with excellent
road and rail links to London and
beyond.
Pupils’ growing confidence and personal effectiveness are clearly linked
to exceptionally strong pastoral and academic guidance. Students
are very mature, thoughtful and reflective, articulating their ideas and
handling difficult issues in a highly sensitive way.
Relationships between teachers and students are trusting, positive and
cooperative. Care, guidance and support for students are outstanding
and contribute significantly to their achievement.

Accommodation,
safety and
transport
Accommodation
We really understand the importance
of finding the right accommodation
for your group, so students are placed
in a homestay with local families
which gives them a chance to fully
experience the English way of life.
All our host families are located
within a maximum of 25 minutes
walking distance of the school and
have been personally visited and
inspected by our accommodation
officer to ensure they provide a clean,
comfortable and safe environment.
Our families provide half board,
breakfast and evening meal (and
packed lunch if required), which is
timed to fit in with classes and social
activities.
Meals will naturally vary according
to the family’s normal eating habits, but
typically breakfast will include cereal
and toast plus tea, coffee or juice.
Evening meals will include a cooked
main course and dessert or fruit.
BB ACADEMY
Students will share a room with their
classmates, we usually place between
two and four students per house, and
will have a shared bathroom.
Welfare
The welfare of your students is vitally
important to us and, from the moment
they arrive in the UK until the moment
they leave, we ensure that they remain
safe, happy and cared for.
In order to achieve this, all of our
policies and procedures are designed
in line with British Council guidelines.
Arrivals, departure and
transfers
We can arrange transfers from all
London airports, Dover and Ashford
International.
Your group will be met at the airport
by the coach company and will then
be met at their final destination by BB
Academy staff. member
