Celebrating Twenty Years Serving Our Community
REALLY GIVING THANKS
NOVEMBER 2007
F
or those of us who proclaim Christ as our King,
Thanksgiving is not just a long holiday weekend. Nor is
it just the chance to watch eight consecutive hours of
football. It’s a time to reflect on the remarkable blessings God
has showered upon us. It’s a chance to give thanks for His
loving presence in our lives.
Think back over the year and you’ll remember how often a
crisis loomed above you, only to see His guiding hand
intervene and bring you through the most troubling of times.
Perhaps you’re facing just such a situation now. Thanksgiving
is the perfect time to remind yourself and your family that
there is much for which to be thankful.
We know it’s true for this ministry and we want to give God
the glory for allowing us to be part of what He‘s doing in the
lives of hurting families. As we enter this incredibly busy time
of year, we hope that you and your loved ones will be able to
escape the daily grind and spend some quality time together.
Thanksgiving and Christmas are traditionally viewed as
family time. But often, we’re just too busy with the hustle-andbustle of the holidays to stop and “know that He is God”.
We ask that you say a prayer for all of us here at Goforth Media
when we come to mind in the coming days. We are very aware
of how much we need His hand on this ministry. We’re
earnestly trying to follow the Lord’s leading in every area of the
work to which He has called us. We also hope that you’ll let us
know how we can better serve you and your loved ones.
Don’t forget to pray for US troops overseas, far away from
home. If you have friends or relatives in the military, please lift
them up. Tell them there is a familiar sound available online
24 hours a day – Power 88. Listening to Power 88 is a great
way to keep them close to home and the Lord.
We trust each one of you will have a blessed Thanksgiving
with your family. On behalf of all your friends here at Goforth
Media, we extend our appreciation for your continued interest
and financial involvement in this ministry. May God’s grace
and peace surround you this holiday season.
PREACHING PEACE
FOR THE POCKETBOOK
Personal money management expert Dave Ramsey is bringing his
popular national radio show to WBHY 840 AM. The live radio talk
show focuses on life, love and relationships and the role money
plays in each of them. Be a part of the nearly three million
listeners who tune in each week from across the country to ask how
to stop fighting with their spouse, teach their kids about money,
save for retirement, kick a gambling habit, and get out of debt. The
radio broadcast exemplifies his life’s work of teaching people how
to be financially responsible, so they can take care of loved ones
and give generously to others. More than 450,000 people have
attended Ramsey’s live events and the school curriculum he
designed is being used by more than 1,800 schools. The author of
the best-selling book The Total Money Makeover, Dave, his wife and
their three children live and attend church in Nashville. To ask
Dave a question, call in during the show at 1-888-825-5225 from

LIFE!”
I have been listening to Power 88 for 6 years now, and it has truly
changed my life. Most of the songs are spiritual and safe. They bring me
to a new place with God. I go to a public school and I don’t have any
Christian friends, so listening to Power 88 every morning helps my spirits
go up. It has also helped me grow as a Christian, to interpret the meaning
and the feeling behind the songs. I am truly grateful for this station.

what station I had my radio on and I told him Power 88. He is new
to the area and is a bi-vocational Pastor. He has been looking for a
station like this and has found several other Christian stations, but
hasn’t found one that plays the music power 88 does. When he left he
was programming you in his radio. Keep up the good work. You are
such a blessing to those of us who listen.
“AWESOME!”
WITNESSING OPPORTUNITY
I listen to your music every morning and afternoon. The last song I
hear before I go into the school is usually the tune that I hum or sing
all day. Occasionally a student will hear me and ask what I am
singing. That is when I get to share with them that it is a Christian
song that I was listening to on the radio. Your radio station has
allowed me to be able to share Jesus with students and other teachers
around me. Thank you for the wonderful feeling you leave inside my
heart everyday.
“TURNED
I just wanted to say that music about God is what gets me through the
day; well you know God comes first. God Bless and keep up the
awesome job there at the station. I love you all.
INTERNET FEED
Listener from afar. I was stationed in Pensacola for 5 years and loved
Power 88 while I was there. Now that I am in Charleston, South
Carolina, we don’t have as good a Christian Station as Power 88 so I
am very thankful that you have the live feed up on the internet. I can
listen at work and it is such a blessing.
MY LIFE AROUND”
Just wanted to say thanks for being there. I have listened in the past
but turned my life around about 6 months ago and started listening to
power 88 24/7. Now my children who are 25, 22, and 16 listen to it
too. i think the station reaches out to the teen agers today. My son
who is 16 has asked for and received christian. he use to get in my
truck and change my radio station to other rock stations. now he
listens to power 88 with me.
THE BUG MAN
I found you a new listener!!! I normally turn my radio off or down
when someone stop at my home, but yesterday when the gentleman
from my pest control stopped to spray. When he came in he asked me
POWER 88
ON
99.5
Just wanted to let you all know that 99.5 comes in great in Citronelle.
I have never been able to tune into 88.5 on my radio at home or work,
and now I am able to tune into 99.5 and listen all day!
“THAT’S
THEIR LOSS”
I am in the 8th grade this year and u don’t know how many kids have
never even heard of Power 88! Some of them even laugh @ me when
I try 2 tell them about it! But that’s their loss and I am
soooooooooooooooooooooooooo thankful that ya’ll r on the air! Ya’ll
give me something in your songs that I need whether I am on a
mountain or in a valley so to speak.

IRAs OFFER BIG TAX SAVINGS
If your birthday cake holds 70.5 or more candles,
you can make a very generous contribution to
your favorite charity out of your IRA. For a few
more days this year, the tax law will allow you to
give directly from your IRA and count that gift
toward your required minimum distribution.
The Pension Protection Act passed by Congress
offers you tax savings opportunities which a
typical charitable contribution deduction will
not. You can donate as much as $100,000 from
your IRA plan without incurring a tax bill. But
the rule only applies to 2007, so you’ll have to
act soon. Your donation check must be received
before December 27th to qualify for the
deduction. Remember, there’s no double dipping
allowed. You cannot claim a deduction for the
same contribution on your income tax form. For
more about how it works, call our Financial
Advisor, Cheryl McCormick-Hann at Edward
Jones Investments at (251) 342-2478 or toll free
(888) 342-7605.

KENNY’S CORNER
Top 30 Played Songs
on Power 88 for October 2007
As you may have heard we
have officially put our first
translator on the air.
When around the Citronelle area, tune us in at 99.5
FM. We praise God for
the people that this
ministry will be able to
reach in that area. We
are praying that the
Citronelle translator won’t
be the only one we are
able to construct and put
on the air. We have the
opportunity to put other
translators up in areas like Jackson, Brewton and Lucedale so
that people in those areas can pick up a much stronger signal of
Power 88. In order to accomplish this we need your help.
Please pray for us in this endeavor, and visit our website at
www.goforth.org for information on how you can help bring
Power 88 to these areas.

“PEACE
INSTEAD OF
CONFUSION”
After spending 5 and a half years enlisted in the Navy me and my
family decided to move to Mobile out of faith. After living for 3
weeks, we would flip from station to station for music. One day while
driving around with my wife and baby, we saw a billboard with just
lightning and “Power 88” written on it. I decide to see what it was all
about. I was amazed by the music. I was blessed to find hope instead
of despair, and peace instead of confusion. Even through our roughest
times we would continue to tune in for we knew that we would find
your station. Thank you for being brave enough to continue to air,
and faithful enough to continue to grow.

Celebrating Twenty Years Serving Our Community
MISSION STATEMENT
Our daily mission is to serve our community by
encouraging personal growth and social responsibility
through positive programming that both educates and
inspires action. To glorify God by being a faithful
steward of all that is entrusted to us; and to have a
positive influence on all who hear.
