& Happy Retirement!
After a 40 year career, one of the
most recognizable voices of Peoples Bank
has retired. When customers called in,
they were warmly greeted with the friendly
voice of Alberta Cloonen – calling them by
name and helping to answer questions. She
answered the phones for the last 22 years
at the bank, rendering superior customer
service. We all miss Alberta and wish her
much happiness!

Co-sponsored by Kankakee Development Corp (KDC) and Peoples Bank
Summer is the perfect season to sponsor outdoor events that bring
together area leaders, local business people and valued customers – and
this event was no exception. The evening offered complimentary brats,
grilled and served by Bank President Jeff Hammes and Chief Credit Officer
Matt Olszewski, good conversation, raffle prizes and music from the band

Bringing new life to the Community
During 50th Anniversary of Peoples Bank
Jeff Hammes, President of Peoples Bank, presents a
plaque to be placed at the base of the newly planted
tree to Becky Arseneau, LPN, Building and Grounds
Operations of Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Peoples Bank, the landmark year culminated in
the special gift of 50 trees given to a wide variety of religious, educational, and charitable
organizations in Kankakee County. The trees were picked out by the organizations, planted for
them, and a special plaque placed by the tree that says, “Deeply rooted, growing our community
since 1962”.
The 50th Anniversary Trees Program was decided upon after much consideration. In
reviewing the years since the bank opened back in 1962, there has always been the philosophy
of giving back; a basic concept that was integral to founder Romy

The Board of Directors and staff at Peoples Bank felt that giving
back to the communities that have supported them over the years was
the best way to celebrate the anniversary. “There is some symbolism
