“One shiny wet nose! Two big furry ears! Two big goggly eyes! IT`S A
“One shiny wet nose! Two big furry ears! Two big goggly eyes! IT’S A BEAR !!!!” After an action packed bear hunt adventure have fun practicing
cut and stick skills by making this fun bear headband!
You will need:
• 2 pages of brown cardstock
• Glue and/or tape
• Scissors (and an adult to help !)
• 2 small black buttons and one large black or brown button
• A small amount of white paper or cardstock
• Cream or pale brown card stock
• 2 shades of brown felt, foam or cardstock (for the ears)
• Black marker pen
• Pencil
• A ruler or something with a straight edge
Step 1
Take the two sheets of brown cardstock and with a ruler trace a line horizontally across
both of them to make two strips. The strips should have a width of around 4 inches. Cut
along the line and then glue or tape the edges of the strips together to make a headband.
Step 2
Draw around a cup or mug to create circle (this will be for the mouth and nose). Cut
out.
Step 3
Glue on the large button for the nose, and use the black marker to draw a bear smile !
Step 4
Fold the white paper or cardstock in half and draw around something small and round (for
the eyes). Cut out (cutting through both layers) to creat two circles. Glue a small black
button in the centre of each circle.
*Hint – you can also buy ready-made goggly plastic eyes. These are available at most dollar stores and in
the craft section of Walmart.
Step 5
Fold over the brown foam or felt and draw an oval shape. Cut out (cutting through
both layers) to create 2 ovals for the ears.
Step 6
Make two smaller ovals from a different shade of brown. Stick onto the ears.
Step 7
Glue all of your pieces together to create your very own bear headband !
Have fun singing this traditional song while wearing
your new headband !

For an older or more energetic group of children try this fun
game !
What Time is its Mr Bear ?
(Follows the same rules as the traditional game What Time is Mr Wolf)
One child is Mr Bear (and wears his or her new bear headband !) and
stands on one side of the play area facing away from the others. The
other children call out, ‘What time is it Mr Bear ?’ and the bear turns to
face them and shouts out a time (eg ‘it’s four o’clock’), before turning
back around. The other children then take 4 steps towards the bear (the
amount of steps depends on the time the bear says – 5 o’clock means 5
steps, etc). When the group are close to the bear and call out ‘what time
is it Mr Bear ?’ the bear will shout ‘ PICNIC TIME!’ and chase the others
back to the start line, trying to catch one of the group. The person who
is caught will be the next Mr Bear.
