Let’s get to
work.
Welcome to a look at Showplace cabinetry for the
home office and workplace. While our cabinets
are most often found in kitchens, baths and other
rooms in the home, you’ll soon see that they can
be right at home in the office as well – and for the
same reasons: Showplace cabinetry offers quality,
versatility, and an almost limitless ability to express
personality and maximize space. It can move your
work setting above the ordinary. All the while,
Showplace offers value that makes good sense on
the bottom line. So let’s get to work.
Homework
assignment.
Today, your home office can
be just as important as the
workplace office. Showplace
cabinetry can make that home
office a place of quiet comfort
and efficient productivity.
In the home office shown at
left, the mitered Woodbury
door style is bright and cheery
in maple, with the understated
Cashmere stain. Open areas
provide bookshelf space while
closed lower areas hide office
clutter. Take note of the intricate
stacked moldings, fluted vertical
elements, and graceful valances
crowning the open areas.
This is the private first lady’s
office in the South Dakota
Governor’s Residence. See more
from this Residence on the
following page.
Similar to the design above, this
home office (right) takes on an
entirely different personality in
rich Showplace cherry. Note the
mullioned glass doors and the
custom desk design.

Dignified and
productive.
There’s a busy factory right down the hall, but Showplace turns this
executive office into a quiet oasis of dignified comfort. Showplace Lyptus
is used for the desk and cabinetry, as well as for the paneling and trim
in the room. Lyptus is an environmentally-managed hardwood that
has the appearance of Mahogany and the hardness of maple, yet is a
fully-renewable species that does not deplete old-growth forests. When
finished in the Truffle stain and accented with Ebony glazing, as shown
here, Lyptus has a warmth and character rivaling that of fine cherry.
A governor’s haven.
When the South Dakota Governor’s Residence was rebuilt
Showplace was chosen to supply the cabinetry for the family
portion of the elegant structure. The governor’s private home
office is shown here. A soaring, semicircular space is embraced
by Showplace cherry, including the handsome wainscoting. A
custom desk was created with Showplace components, while
Showplace base cabinets ring the outer wall.
The Residence must serve the governors and public for
generations to come. A timelessness was sought, and
Showplace cabinetry supplied just that. Most of the rooms
were designed with the classic, understated Covington style,
in rich, warm cherry. The exception was the first lady’s
private office. She preferred a brighter, less formal feel, and
Woodbury in Maple Cashmere was the perfect choice (shown
on the previous page).

Classic details support the dignified tone of this
executive office, including the fluted quarter-round
columns and the Colonial furniture base treatment.

A large tambour door rolls up and out of the way to create a handy pass-through
between this kitchen area (above) and the adjacent boardroom. Note how
fluting and graceful corbels contribute to the appeal of the
front reception counter, shown below.
Handsome
harmony.
First impressions are important. From the moment a visitor
walks in the front door of this builders’ association headquarters
they are welcomed into the homelike comfort of Showplace
Lyptus cabinetry in the rich Chestnut stain. The warm tone
set in the reception area (far left) extends into the handsome
serving center (above) that is adjacent to the large boardroom.
An opening in the boardroom wall (above left) reveals a fullyequipped kitchen, another Showplace Lyptus creation.
The understated Covington door style gains added visual interest
with subtle distressing and ebony glazing. Note how open areas
and glass display cabinets enhance the reception counter, while
an array of wall and base cabinets add useful storage space to
this important hub of activity (at left).

Creative
multitasking.
From its useful red oak bookcase to its clever
hideaway kitchen, this spacious conference room
handles multiple tasks with elegant ease.
Call the meeting to order, with Showplace versatility.
Now you see it… now you don’t.
The versatile kitchen area shown
at left can be closed off from the
conference room with folding
panels (above left). The Covington
door style presents understated
appeal in its Amber finish.

This bank building conference room is called upon
to play many roles. When used for meetings or
teleconferencing (as shown above), the setting
is made warm and welcoming by a handsome
Showplace bookcase creation. Combining closed
cabinets, drawers large and small, and open display
and bookshelf areas, it is a truly versatile creation.
Note how the variations in cabinet height and depth
enhance the visual interest of the design.
Adjacent to this conference room, hidden by
folding panels, is a fully-functional Showplace
kitchen and island. For large meetings, it offers
a serving area for refreshments, and a place for
participants to gather, chat and relax. With the
panels closed, it functions as a break-time and
lunch-hour resource for staff.

Welcoming
workplace.
This developer is in the business of
creating homes for thousands of people,
and Showplace cabinetry lends a homelike
personality to their facilities. A flowing
visual continuity is created by the
consistent use of Showplace cherry in the
rich Merlot finish. The cabinetry is further
enhanced with Showplace ebony glazing,
which highlights detail and gives a subtle
impression of graceful aging.
Showplace facilitates personalization
by incorporating custom outsourced
pieces into the designs. The hand-carved
moldings and capital onlay shown at left
were finished by Showplace to match the
cabinetry. Also note how the Showplace
pocket doors keep A/V equipment
tastefully out of sight when not in use.
From the spacious elegance of the
president’s office (at right), to a compact
corner unit in an executive conference
room (left), Showplace cabinetry adds
functionality, comfort and beauty to the
workplace.
Showplace cabinetry in this
comfortable executive office
provides abundant storage,
sprawling workspaces, and an
elegant, furniture-like flavor.
Note how the metal hanging-file
cabinets have been incorporated
into the design.
The warm glow of fine Showplace cherry
unifies the headquarters, from the reception
area (above) to the corner unit in the
president’s office (near left).

Put your space
to work.
As these unique home offices
demonstrate, it’s not the size
of the space, but the size of
the idea that matters. The
inherent flexibility of Showplace
cabinetry gives you the
freedom to take advantage of
the smallest unused corner to
create your own productive
home workspace. Talk to a
Showplace designer about the
possibilities open to you.
