PSAT Test:

the “Practice SAT Exam” is administered to all LCC students in grades
9-11 on Wednesday, October 15, during the school day. This test is

9-11 take the PSAT regardless of payment; this is a requested

DIRECTORY INFORMATION:
The District makes student directory information available in accordance with state and federal laws.
This means that each student's name, birthdate, birthplace, address, telephone number major course
of study, participation in school activities, dates of attendance, awards and previous school attendance
may be released in accordance with board policy. In addition, height and weight of athletes may be
made available. Appropriate directory information may be provided to any agency or person except
private, profit-making organizations. Names and addresses of seniors or terminating students may be
given to public or private schools, colleges, employers and military recruiters.
Upon written request from the parent of a student age 17 or younger, the District will withhold
directory information about the student. If the student is 18 or older or enrolled in an institution of
post-secondary instruction and makes a written request, the pupil's request to deny access to
directory information will be honored. Requests must be submitted within 30 calendar days of the
receipt of this information.
If you DO NOT elect to allow directory information to be released to any outside agency, including the
military, please sign below and return to the school attendance office within 30 days. Parent signature
will prohibit the District from providing directory information to the military, news media, employers,
schools, parent-teacher organizations and similar parties.

La Costa Canyon High School Discipline Policy Notification 2015-2016
La Costa Canyon High School’s Discipline Policy is written to comply with the SDUHSD Board Policy and State Education Code
to ensure a safe and orderly educational environment. Please take a moment to access the policy online to ensure that you and
your student know the school rules and possible disciplinary actions. The entire policy is accessible at

The following are key items of importance:
•
The LCCHS campus is closed for Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors. Seniors are permitted to leave campus during the
student lunch period. All students are expected to remain on campus during the nutrition break.
•
All students must have an Off-Campus Pass (obtained from the attendance office) to leave campus; this includes not
returning to campus after lunch. A student may obtain an Off-Campus Pass if:
o They have a note, signed by a parent or guardian, which states the reason for leaving, the time of departure,
and a phone number for verification purposes.
o A parent or guardian phones the Attendance Office (Ext. 6008, Option 1) in advance of the student’s departure to
verify the reason for absence. 24 hour advance notice is appreciated.
•
According to California Education Code 48205, students are considered truant on their third unexcused tardy and/or their third
unexcused absence. Unless an absence is cleared with a parent note within three (3) school days, the absence will be recorded
as a truancy; no changes can be made after three (3) school days. It is the student’s and the family’s responsibility to provide
appropriate notification (either by note or by phone call) to the Attendance Office. Appropriate attendance interventions will be
implemented for any student considered to be truant. For more information, please see the SDUHSD governing policy regarding
excused absences at http://sduhsd.net/documents/Policies/5000%20Students/5113_ar-1.pdf.
•
Students are required to have a school staff issued pass to leave classrooms during class hours.
•
Students are expected to follow the tardy guidelines of their classroom teacher. Students must have a written pass from
an LCC staff member for the teacher to consider excusing the tardy.
•
Disciplinary consequences are assigned if students are considered excessively tardy. Progressive discipline will be
implemented for students which may include, but not limited to, Academic Enrichment Tutoring, Friday Night School,
Saturday School, and/or, Loss of Privilege List.
•
Academic honesty is a critical component of high school success. Students in violation of the SDUHSD Academic Honesty
Policy are subject to disciplinary action. For more information, please see the SDUHSD governing policy for Academic Honesty

•
All SDUHSD schools have dress codes regulated by District governing policies. Please click the following link to access LCC’s
Dress Guidelines: http://lc.sduhsd.net/Key-Info/Dress-Guidelines-/index.html. Administration reserves the right to implement
progressive discipline action to address dress code infractions. Also, administration reserves the right to alter/modify the dress
code as styles change or clothing becomes a safety issue.
•
Inappropriate use of electronic devices may result in confiscation and disciplinary action. All devices are the sole responsibility of
the student and neither SDUHSD nor LCCHS staff is responsible for lost or stolen items. See also the District’s Acceptable Use

•
Suspensions of two (2) calendar days or longer are accompanied with a 30-day extracurricular activity suspension.
This includes suspension from participating in team sports. This same policy applies to READI program attendance
offered as an alternative to suspension.

 Sponsored by San Dieguito Alliance, a nonprofit coalition committed to the prevention of alcohol, tobacco,
marijuana, and other drug use by young people and to the drug abuse education of parents and community
members.
Do you know?
 50% of adolescent death is alcohol related and 75% of all preventable death is caused by alcohol and tobacco
use. Average age for the inception of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other drug use is 12.
 Communicating a clear and consistent family policy about alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other drug use
delays or prevents drug use. Notifying parents of suspected teen alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and other drug
use is essential for immediate intervention.
 Teenage parties in our communities are being held without supervision, and alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and
other drugs are readily available, sometimes provided by a parent or sibling.
 It is illegal to allow minors to drink at parties or other gatherings. Penalties may include a $1,000 fine, six
months in prison and/or the cost of police services.
Parent Pledges are compiled into a directory with PARENTS’ names and phone numbers (NO
ADDRESSES). The Parent Pledge Directory will be available online in late Fall to those who signed the pledge
so they may network.

Academics: The majority of your donation is used to help LCC maintain the highest academic standards possible
by supporting our faculty and supplementing materials for all subjects in the California Core Curriculum.
Counseling, College and Career: College and Career readiness is something on the mind of every LCC parent.
The Foundation organizes crucial SAT/ACT prep courses and provides funding for after-school enrichment and college
and career readiness guest speakers.
Technology: Every year, new opportunities arise for the LCC Foundation to fund vital technology upgrades in the
classrooms and around campus. This includes computer equipment, software upgrades,
and web development that are not covered by Prop or District funds.
STEM: LCC continues to increase its elective offerings and extracurricular activities in research and practical
application of science, technology, engineering and math. Robotics, computer science and engineering
