SVDP HOSTS 2015 FRIENDS OF THE POOR WALK
BISHOP’S LOCAL MASSES
The Saint Vincent De Paul, Saint Paul Conference will be holding their 7th
Annual Friends of the Poor Walk September 19th. This is a major fund
raiser whose proceeds are used entirely to buy food for the Our Lady Of
Grace Food Pantry, which helps to feed our neighbors in need. Through your
generosity over the past 6 years, the walk has raised approximately
$25,000.00 for this ministry. We need sponsors, walkers, donors and lots of
prayers to make this event a success. Watch the upcoming Bulletins for
additional details.
Bishop Malesic is traveling through the diocese celebrating local
Masses. This gives him the opportunity to gather with the clergy and
laity of the diocese. The Masses will start at 7PM and will be followed
by a social open to the public. Anyone may choose to attend any
Mass, regardless of its location. Remaining Masses are scheduled as
follows:
MEAL MINISTRY... Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice
hospitality.” Romans 12:13.
The Meal Ministry at St. Paul Parish exists
as an outreach to our parishioners exemplifying our Christian hospitality. We
have a list of volunteers to provide meals, but we need to hear from you when
you know someone who needs our ministry, if you need the ministry or if you
want to be a volunteer. Please contact the Parish Office at 724-834-6880 and
we will help you connect with the Meal Ministry Coordinator.

WHAT IS THE RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS?
It is the way the church has designed for people to take the journey of learning

to grow in a personal and communal relationship with God, and, if desired, to
be welcomed into the Church by the faith community. Anyone interested in
participating in RCIA can start the process at any time. For more information
or to express an interest, call St. Bruno Parish Office at 724-836-0690.

first pancake. I can wait.' Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, 'Ryan, you
be Jesus.'

seek understanding” and join us for Pathways. We will be at Saint Agnes

LOOKING FOR HANDS AND HEARTS AND PRAYERS
Is it enough to pray that the hungry, homeless and poor find
help and relief from their situation? Or is it better that we use
our hands, heart and our prayers to make a difference, isn’t
that really what Jesus and the Holy Spirit have guided us to
do? If you are convinced that Jesus and the Holy Spirit are guiding you to do
more, then come and join with your fellow neighbors and parishioners to help
alleviate conditions that the poor suffer from. The Greensburg St. Vincent
DePaul Thrift Store is committed to the work of helping the poor. Come, join
and see how to impact those less fortunate than us.
The St Vincent DePaul Thrift Store in Greensburg is looking for ladies and
men to join our volunteer community. For more information please call Fred
Francese at 724-433-1150. The store operates 10 to 3 weekdays and 10 to 1

Readings & Reflections
AT THE TABLE
In today’s first reading, Wisdom is imagined as a woman rich in poise and
grace. She moves smoothly and confidently about her temple‑like home.
She doesn’t flutter about, nervous with worry. Wisdom sends her maidens to
invite all to her open house. The guests do not possess any particular genius
or insight. They need only be a people of good will and common sense. They
are summoned to leave behind foolishness and to find for themselves a place
at Wisdom’s table. There they may eat and drink deeply.
Today’s Gospel draws us back to the table of the Eucharist.
Jesus addresses those who seek to understand his words
and, sadly, those who seek to avoid them. As people born
of God, we are called and equipped to seek God’s will and
act on it.

TODAY’S READINGS
First Reading — Forsake foolishness that you may live; advance in the way
of understanding (Proverbs 9:1-6).
Psalm — Taste and see the goodness of the Lord
(Psalm 34).
Second Reading — Live as wise persons trying to understand what is the
will of the Lord, filled with the Spirit and giving thanks always (Ephesians 5:15
-20).
Gospel — Jesus says, “I am the living bread . . . whoever eats this bread (my
flesh) will live forever”
(John 6:51-58).
