Communities
Through our charitable giving program, Boyd Gaming strives to empower, enrich,
enhance and enlighten the communities in which we operate. Our ultimate objective
is to provide a better quality of life for our fellow citizens and we are proud of our
long-standing reputation as a leader in corporate philanthropy.
Boyd Gaming is pleased to share our story of giving in this Charitable Giving Report. In
2004, Boyd Gaming contributed nearly $2 million to recognized charitable organizations
in Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada and New Jersey. This total
represents corporate and property contributions exclusively and does not include our
employees’ individual contributions, nor does it account for the countless volunteer
hours that they regularly donate to a variety of worthy organizations – two components
that would substantially increase the total amount.
Boyd Gaming is committed to making meaningful contributions to our community
through our focused areas of giving: Community, Health and Human Services; Culture;
Education; and Gaming and General Business Associations. It is particularly meaningful
when our commitment is recognized by others. We were proud to have been honored
by the Las Vegas Chapter of the Association for Fundraising Professionals as their 2004
Outstanding Philanthropic Corporation of the Year. We encourage you to read on and to
discover the commitment and compassion we have for our communities.

Mission
Mission
Making a positive difference in the lives of the
citizens who live, work and play in the communities in
which we operate.
Empower — Community,
Health and Human Services
We strive to empower our surrounding communities by providing resources to make a
positive difference. The Community, Health and Human Services area of giving is the
most encompassing category and includes organizations such as the United Way, Special
Olympics and the Boys and Girls Club.
Par-A-Dice Hotel Casino, located in East Peoria, Illinois, has been a major contributor
to Easter Seals for many years. Once again, in 2004, Par-A-Dice hosted the Easter Seals’
Telethon and the Easter Seals’ Style Show. Both events helped to raise funds to support
Easter Seals’ mission of creating opportunities for children and adults with disabilities
by maximizing individual potential for living, learning and working in their communities.
Blue Chip Casino and Hotel, in Michigan City, Indiana, continues to be a proud supporter
of community activities. During the summer of 2004, Blue Chip helped sponsor the
Summer Festival and the Michigan City In-Water Boat Show and Labor Dayz. In addition,
Blue Chip participated in Lake Michigan Coast Week, an event that celebrates the natural
and cultural diversity of Lake Michigan.
Stardust Resort and Casino, and its employee ambassadors, organized a food and
clothing drive to benefit Street Teens in Las Vegas. The Stardust collected desperately
needed non-perishable food and clothing items. Street Teens supports homeless
teenagers and creates a personalized step-by-step program to help keep them off
the streets.
This holiday season was made a little more special for local Atlantic City, New Jersey
families. Borgata employees partnered with the Atlantic County Welfare and Family
Services Association and collected over 700 toys for local children. Borgata associates
distributed the toys to underprivileged families all around Atlantic County.

Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall in Tunica, Mississippi donated four tractortrailer rigs full of high quality furniture from 240 refurbished hotel rooms to the Delta
Mission Partnership, the DeSoto County Habitat for Humanity and the House of Grace.
Mattresses, box springs, chairs, tables, dressers, nightstands, mirrors, pictures and
lamps were among the merchandise donated. Much of the community banded together
to assist in removing and delivering the furniture to help these worthy organizations.
The Orleans Arena, in Las Vegas, hosted the annual Best In Show competition for the
second straight year. Some 50 to 60 well-coiffed canines strutted their stuff in front
of AKC judges hoping to earn the coveted Best In Show title. All of the dogs were from
the Lied Animal Shelter and were available for adoption at the conclusion of the show.
Proceeds raised support the care and feeding of the animals housed at the shelter.
Barbary Coast Hotel and Casino lent a helping hand to support Opportunity Village, an
organization devoted to helping adults with intellectual disabilities throughout Southern
Nevada. Opportunity Village provides vocational training and employment placement to
a segment of society once thought unemployable. The dinners donated served to raise
much-needed funds for this important community resource.

Enrich — Cultural Arts
Boyd Gaming recognizes the important role art, music and dance play in our
communities by enriching, inspiring and educating audiences with varied backgrounds
and interests.
Treasure Chest Casino in Kenner, Louisiana continues to support the arts through
its sponsorship of Jefferson Performing Arts Society’s (JPAS) presentation of Smokey
Joe’s Café. The JPAS is the only organization of its kind in Jefferson Parish bringing
culture to the community and engaging students in cultural educational opportunities.
Additionally, for the third consecutive year, Treasure Chest participated in the Art
Against AIDS benefit for the AIDS Task Force.
The Downtown Las Vegas properties – Main Street Station Casino, Brewery and Hotel,
Fremont Hotel and Casino, and California Hotel and Casino – supported the Clark County
Jazz in the Park Series for the fifth consecutive year. The combined properties provided
over 30 rooms for the musicians who performed in the series, which is offered to the
community for free or low cost.
Suncoast Hotel and Casino, in Las Vegas’ Summerlin community, raised over $15,000
in donations for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation through a Jazz and
Wine event. All proceeds were donated to the foundation to be used for breast cancer
education, research, and treatment.
Enlighten

Boyd Gaming believes in the power of education and its ability to enlighten our lives and
our communities. We are committed to investing in the future of our young people to
ensure a brighter future for us all.

instituted at McNeese State University to recognize academic achievement from among
its student body.

the Islands through donations made to the Marry Knoll Schools Scholarship fundraiser
and the Pearl City High School marching band.
Sam’s Town Las Vegas chefs continue their tradition of serving their community, literally.

at-risk schools. The chefs not only serve breakfast, but act as positive role models for
the children as well.

and local Las Vegas schools to educate teenagers about the dangers and consequences
of drinking and driving. Gold Coast and Sam’s Town Las Vegas donated hotel rooms,
banquet space, food and transportation to host students participating in the “Every
15 Minutes” program.

Enhance — Gaming and General
Business Associations
nce
In an effort to enhance gaming-related agencies and those that advocate a healthy
business environment, Boyd Gaming works in partnership with many diverse business
agencies such as the National Center for Responsible Gaming, various Chambers of
Commerce, as well as the Better Business Bureau.
Boyd Gaming is a founding member of the National Center for Responsible Gaming and
continues its support of the National Center with over $1 million contributed to fund
research into the assessment and treatment of problem gambling disorders. Sam’s Town
Shreveport is one of the many Boyd Gaming properties that support Problem Gambling
locally through its participation and membership in the Louisiana Association on
Compulsive Gambling. Boyd Gaming has always considered responsible gaming education
an important part of its commitment to its communities, employees and guests.
Eldorado Casino and Jokers Wild Casino helps to promote the Downtown Henderson,
Nevada business district by participating in several events throughout the year. Their
support of the Henderson Senior Games, which is offered through the Downtown
Henderson Recreation Center, serves to provide services and special events for adults
over the age of 50 who reside in Henderson. Both casinos also work closely with the
City of Henderson to help promote events that provide assistance to several worthy
non-profit organizations in the area.
In Las Vegas, Boyd Gaming has given generously to The Urban Chamber of Commerce
Capital Campaign. The Urban Chamber of Commerce advocates for equitable
opportunities for minority, female, and small businesses. Boyd Gaming further supports
these initiatives through its corporate purchasing programs, employee recruitment and
employee training.
