BOYS’ BASEBALL TOURNAMENT
Celebrating the All American pastime while challenging skill and sportsmanship, this tournament is sponsored by the
Vidalia Recreation Department for boys in three divisions: 11-12, 9-10, and 8 & under. Champion and runner-up t-shirts are
awarded to 1st and 2nd place teams. Team trophies are awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. Individual trophies are

recognition of the Vidalia Onion pageant winners and Writing Contest winners, and fun activities for folks of all ages. Bring

Georgia artist Mark Ballard will showcase his culinary expertise, wit, comedy, and decorating styles with our “Sweet Vidalia
Onions.” There will be door prizes, goody bags for the first 125 participants, and vendors in the lobby one hour prior to the

Come experience true cowboy cooking! Beginning Friday morning, the wagons will set up their camps, in preparation for
judges to evaluate competitors by – appearance, authenticity and appeal on that afternoon. Competitors will begin cooking
early Saturday morning, and the food judging will take place at 11:45 a.m., in six categories. The chow will be served at
high noon. Tickets for food are available for advance purchase. Winners will be announced at 2 p.m. Food judging categories
include meat, beans, potatoes, bread, dessert and a Vidalia onion dish. Other categories are most authentic wagon and

Run or walk for fun, physical challenge and health plus the chance to win big. Options include a 1-mile Fun Run/Walk
beginning at 7:30 a.m., plus a 5K Run/Walk and a 10K Run/Walk both beginning at 8 a.m. All races begin and end on the
corner of 2nd and Church streets. The 5K and 10K races are certified by USA Track & Field. A cash prize of $1,500 will be
awarded to any runner who sets a new time record for the 10K, and awards are given to the top three finishers in the 5K

Take a leisurely stroll in the shade and peruse a wide variety of artwork and hand-crafted items for sale in a festive
atmosphere that also offers musical entertainment, guest appearances and plenty of food. Artisans’ work of glass, wood,
fabric, paper, metal and other materials in a variety of design styles. A variety of food (featuring the Vidalia Onion, of
course!) will be available as well as activities for the youngsters, including a scavenger hunt. Be sure to get your copy of
the “Vidalia Onion Prize Winning Recipes” cookbook. Entertainment includes music from Jerry and Terry Richardson at the
pavilion plus special appearances by Yumion and Miss Vidalia Onion 2014. Sponsored by service organizations the Vidalia
Woman’s Club and Vidalia Lions Club. Proceeds benefit local charities. Admission: $3 per adult, $1 per child age 6-12, and
free for children under 6 with a parent. No coolers, no outside food or beverage, no outside containers and no pets allowed.

rides to children ages 8 to 17. Children wishing to ride must have their parent/guardian at the registration tent to sign the

A number of vintage, modern, home-built and war-bird aircraft will be on display. There will be an opportunity to purchase
an open cockpit biplane ride as well. Also, Broken Arrow Outfitters will be hosting an archery shoot-out that is open to all classes of shooters. Starting time for

and bumper balls. Climb into an enormous 10-foot bumper ball and run, jump and spin your way to an awesome time of

rotate and move the balls from the inside.

Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and the whole gang to enjoy a night of musical entertainment and spectacular fireworks.
Multi-genre singer, songwriter and musician Uncle Kracker will headline the concert. His recently released album
Midnight Special, produced with Sugar Hill Records, includes the single “Nobody’s Sad on a Saturday Night,” a theme song
for a weekend party, which has already hit the airwaves and is being embraced by Country radio. The bands Parmalee

TALES FROM THE ALTAMAHA:
A DECADE OF SWEET MEMORIES
The Altama Museum Collection is housed in the neoclassic-style Brazell
House, which was built in 1911 and is listed in the National Register of
Historic Places. The museum is best-known for its Libby Collection of
Staffordshire porcelain, with over 260 pieces and 210 different patterns, and
a group of 24 first-edition, hand-colored prints by John James Audubon.
Altama exhibits also include a permanent collection of 18th and 19th century
European prints, the Aldridge Vintage Clothing Collection, and the Victorian
Parlor and Bedroom. Admission is free, thanks to the City of Vidalia and

The 3rd Annual Golden Onion professional cooking competition showcases the Vidalia® onion, Georgia’s most exclusive and
renowned agricultural treasure, plus offers a platform for chefs across Georgia to display their skills and creativity. A total of 12
of the state’s leading chefs will compete for the top honors, each chef cooking for one hour in a bid to wow the judges. Recipe
booklets featuring all of the competitors’ recipes will be available for purchase for $10. Admission is free and raffle tickets can be
