Litespeed Tech Feed: 2014 Pisgah
Superior to top models from other manufacturers, the value-added
Pisgah comes fully equipped with larger diameter, subtly shaped
tubing — without the usual titanium price tag. The 2014 Pisgah is
ready to defy gravity when climbing, manage XC adventures with ease,
and knock your socks off on both the bike store floor and trail alike.
In-the-know cyclists consider Litespeed the industry expert in titanium
craftsmanship for a reason: continuous improvement, two simple words
that summarize our design philosophy. At Litespeed it is hard for us to not
think about the next improvement on our frames. What is the next design
for a tube and how can we make the next frame better. From the Ooltewah
production floor to the road and trail, we obsess about “What next?”

Litespeed designed the Pisgah using 3AL-2.5V titanium tubing for the
ultimate in combined value, dependability, and performance. For 2014
the new 44mm head tube and the larger diameter PressFit 30 bottom
bracket are the heart and soul of the Pisgah mountain frame allowing us
to incorporate a larger diameter top tube and down tube which offer
increased strength and performance on the trail, while continuing to offer
the magical, unmistakable ride qualities for which titanium is renowned.

The Get Up to Go
Litespeed built the Pisgah for the challenges of steep grades
and rough and tuff terrain like that found in the North Carolina
forest it was named after. Added front end stiffness of the
tubing combined with added stiffness offered by running
a 1.5” tapered steerer fork maximizes both the frame and
the components. The 44mm head tube allows use of either
Ø1.125 straight or Ø1.125 x 1.5 tapered steerer forks and is also
External Cup (EC) and Zero Stack (ZS) headset compatible.
Asymmetrical chain stays deliver maximum drivetrain stiffness
and power transfer so riders get the most for their muscle
while PressFit 30 bottom bracket design means more ankle
clearance, greater bearing durability, and simple installation.
Legendary Litespeed Titanium
rested on our laurels. It’s one thing
to be a legacy, but Litespeed has no
intention of being a relic. We strive for
putting riders on the best-built bicycles
like the Pisgah and continue to improve
ride and performance across both our
titanium and carbon fiber lines.”

Dirty Talk
Litespeed answers the hard and fast questions about the 2014 Pisgah
Q. Why the new geometry?
A. New geometry offers wider range of fit and optimizes the latest component
technology choices including the 44mm head tube.
Q. What is MWC?
A. Multi Wheel Compatible. Depending on race day condition, it’s not uncommon
for you to show up on race day with 2 sets of tires. Introducing MWC “Multi Wheel
Compatible” frames from Litespeed, it’s frame design that allows the rider to change
wheel size depending on course conditions.
renowned for their durability and
style. “It is an honor to see Litespeed
recognized in this way,” said Steve
Dunn, Litespeed’s international sales
manager. “I think our 2014 line of carbon
and titanium bikes are more exciting
and more innovative than anything we
have done so far. Seeing the Pisgah
and our other bikes on the roads and
trails around the world is extremely
gratifying.”
Q. Can you explain the updated tubing diameter?
A. The 2014 Pisgah’s new oversized top tube and bent down tube incorporate stiffness
and flex where needed. Our designers and welders have come up with precision
tube sets for exceptional handling characteristics. Plus, the Pisgah’s 80 to 100mm of fork
travel delivers proper suspension without compromising rider control. In short, the
Pisgah’s continued simple, yet meticulous design offers a sweet ride at a sweet price.
Q: What is the Litespeed titanium difference?
LS: Unlike several other manufacturers, Litespeed fabricates its own tubing and does
not supply tubing to other brands. Litespeed also creates a brushed finish as opposed
to a glass-bead blasted ti finish, which can compromise strength and blemish easily.
“Through meticulous design and
engineering efforts, Litespeed has
gone from humble beginnings to being
an internationally recognized and
lauded brand,” added Hurley. “Our
2014 bikes are proof that Litespeed as a
manufacturer rides ahead of the curve.”
