Booth-Fickett K-8 Math & Science Magnet is
A Respect+ School
Booth-Fickett K-8 Math & Science Magnet is
A Respect+ School
What does that mean?
It means you respect others because you respect yourself.
Respect is not given because it is earned…respect is given
because we hold ourselves to the standards that we expect in
others.
At Booth-Fickett we will use “Zero Tolerance” to keep the
atmosphere of a Respect+ School
-When a student is given a directive by any adult, he/she is
expected to immediately comply without any defiance.
-Every behavior will be addressed, an appropriate
consequence will be assigned, and parents will be notified.
-The entire Booth-Fickett community will use a Language of
Respect in school with all community members.
5
No child can be viewed as unable to succeed and
there must exist an unwavering passion in the hearts
and minds of each of us that ensures that every
student learns regardless of the obstacles that he or
she faces in their personal life. The moment we stop
believing that all students can and must learn is the
moment we begin the process of collaborative
failure. We begin to lose sight of the fact that we
make a difference in every student’s life, and, before
we know it, we become part of the problem.

WELCOME
STUDENT WORK AT
BOOTH-FICKETT
Welcome to Booth-Fickett Math/Science
Magnet School! The administration, teachers,
and staff want you to have an outstanding
year of learning and fun. We challenge our
students to be the best and take advantage of
the many learning opportunities our school has
to offer. We are here to help you succeed. Our
goal is to insure that all students reach their
full academic potential. To be a successful
student, it is important that you are prepared
and attend all classes regularly and promptly.
Academic achievement and responsibility are
priorities.
“Rigor is creating a positive environment in
which each student is expected to learn at
high levels, each student is supported so
he/she can learn at high levels, and each
student demonstrates these expectations
through the production of high quality work.”
MAGNET/OPEN-ENROLLMENT
Any students not living in the Booth-Fickett

Student Rights and Responsibilities. Students
and their families will receive a written
warning if their student may have their Magnet

We welcome parents and students to
participate in helping our school become the
very best that it can be. We encourage you to
share your ideas, concerns, time, and
expertise with us. Please contact an
administrator, teacher, counselor or a member
of the Student Council, or School Council to
express concerns, make suggestions, or
volunteer time.

the student to purchase a new one in a timely

have to be CHECKED OUT from school or will

VISITORS AND VOLUNTEERS
We enjoy our guests and encourage
volunteers. All visitors and volunteers should
come to the front office upon arrival.
ARIZONA LAW REQUIRES THAT GUESTS
NOT GO BEYOND THE FRONT OFFICE

wishes to sit in a class, arrangements to
observe MUST be made by the parent (with
the teacher) at least 24 hours in advance.

students’ personal items (cell phones,
MP3 players, video games, etc.) that are
lost or stolen.
These items are the
responsibility of the student.
Students
may only access these items before school,
during lunch, and after school unless being
used as directed by a teacher as part of an
instructional activity.
Students who are in
violation of this rule during instructional time
will have the item confiscated and a
parent/guardian will be required to pick it up
in
the
main

MISCONDUCT POLICY
PASSING PERIODS
Students who are continually disruptive may
be removed from class and prohibited from
returning subject to a review by a committee
of teachers and administrators as provided by
A.R.S. 15-841.A.2.
The schedule for students in grades 6-8 allows
four minutes between periods. Proper conduct
during the passing period is important to the
general welfare of all students. Students are
expected to WALK to the next class and to be
ON TIME. Pushing, shoving, tripping, or
running in the halls, excessive noise and the
use if inappropriate languages is not
acceptable and will not be tolerated. It is
important to take care of the necessities such
as use of the bathrooms and water fountains
during passing period.
Major offenses and infractions may result in
automatic suspension. In cases of an at-home
suspension,
the
teachers
will
provide
classroom work. The purpose of consequences
is to teach students to make positive choices,
to be responsible for their own behavior, and
to alleviate further classroom disruption. See
TUSD Guidelines For Students Rights and
Responsibilities for a list of infractions.
TARDY POLICY
Students are expected to be at school and
class on time. Maximizing instructional time

learning center. While in this room students
are required to complete all regular school

focus on our Character Counts and Restoration
programs. This classroom will also be used as
a location for students to be “timed out” of
their normal classroom for disruptive behavior
on a per period basis.
