Introduction
Pikachu (Pronounced Pee-Kah-Choo) is a yellow electrical mouse creature that is the most noted icon
for the children's television series "Pokemon" (1995).

He is the protagonist Ash Ketchup's partner and best friend. He is the number 25 in the official National
Pokedex[1].
Pikachu is known for using the attacks thunderbolt, tackle, quick attack and tail whip. Pikachu has the
electric element. They evolve when exposed to a thunderstone into the pokemon Raichu.
It evolves from Pichu when leveled up with high friendship and evolves into Raichu when exposed to a
Thunder Stone. However, the starter Pikachu in Pokémon Yellow will refuse to evolve into Raichu unless
it is traded and evolved on another save file.
Pikachu is popularly known as the mascot of the Pokémon franchise and a major representative of
Nintendo's collective mascots.
It is also the version mascot of Pokémon Yellow, where it is the only starter Pokémon in that game. It has
made numerous appearances on the boxes of spin-off titles.
Characteristics
The anime has shown that Pikachu sometimes travel in groups. It raises its tail to check its surroundings,
and is occasionally struck by lightning in this position. Living in forested areas, Pikachu is found foraging
for berries it roasts with electricity to make them tender enough to eat. It has been observed eating and
sometimes destroying telephone poles, wires, and other electronic equipment.
Pikachu has red sacs on its cheeks that are what contains the electricity that is discharged. Some pikachu's
look a little different from others. For example, Richie's Pikachu has a tuft of hair on its forehead.
Ash's Pikachu is also noted to love ketchup very much.

Pikachu is a main character in the Magical Pokémon Journey manga series.
Pikachu is most noted for being the star of the hit television show Pokemon. But he is also well noted to
be in the popular Pokemon video games.
Most notable is Pokemon Yellow, which is an RPG that allows the player to have a pikachu follow him
around outside of his pokeball. This was
very unique to the Pokemon video game series until 2009 [2] . Pikachu also starred in the Nintendo 64
game "Hey You Pikachu!" This game allowed payers to use a microphone to talk and interact with
Pikachu in his or her room, backyard and even around the small town. There are a variety of games that
can be played and Pikachu can even be trained to respond to a certain name or do tricks[3] .
Cultural Influences
Pikachu is also seen as a role model that teaches viewers about the lines between competition and fighting
and putting aside differences.
Pikachu has also inspired many cultural phenomenons such as a recent Pokemon Themed Cafe in Japan,

Airline travel, many tattoos and even buses and VW beetles. Children dress up in pokemon costumes. It is
becoming more commonly acceptable for college students to have Pikachu decals on their laptops and car
windows.
Similar to Hello Kitty, Pikachu has also become a cute phenomenon in many parts of the world, for
example these unofficial seat covers.
