THE ULTIMATE
FOOTBALL BETTING GUIDE
WHAT IS BET LABS?
Bet Labs is a unique and innovative product that lets any user quickly evaluate a sports betting database.
Users no longer have to learn a programming language or use Excel for hours to manipulate data. With
Bet Labs, you can create winning betting systems in seconds, not hours. Once you have built your system,
Bet Labs will then alert you when any current games match your winning system.

HOW TO CREATE A SYSTEM
To get started, simply name your system and then pick a sport, line type, and event type.
Once you have named your system, you can start adding filters to hone in on your winning betting
system. There are over 100 filters grouped together in the following categories.

EXAMPLE SYSTEM 1: NFL BOUNCE BACK SYSTEM
BACKGROUND
The original hypothesis for this system was to look at NFL teams coming off of a loss. We made an
assumption that teams were undervalued after losing their previous game. After looking in Bet Labs, we
were able to find a winning system, but the losing margin ended up being the key to the system.
FILTERS USED
This system uses four filters: Season
Type, Previous Game Margin,
Favorite/Dog, and Spread Range.
For Season Type, it is defaulted to
Regular season. This ensures that we
are not looking at any preseason or
postseason games.
The Favorite / Dog filter was used to look
only at teams that are underdogs. The
Spread Range filter was then used to
look at dogs receiving between 3 to 16.5
points at the time the line closed.
For Previous Game Margin, we are
looking at how much a team won or lost
by in their previous game. When you
open the filter, you see the screen to the
right.
The About Filter section will tell you
exactly what the number values mean.
In this case, a negative number indicates
a loss. For this system, we are looking at teams coming off of a loss of 21 or more points. You can adjust
the range however you like for your system; however, Bet Labs makes sure that you don’t have to guess
where the profitable ranges are. In the lower section of the filter, you can see a graph for your current
range. You can even hover over certain data points to see exactly how each one has performed.
In this example, I hovered over -38. When a team is coming off of a 38-point loss, they are 11-3 and won
$736.10 for a $100-dollar bettor.

EXAMPLE SYSTEM 1: NFL BOUNCE BACK SYSTEM
ANALYSIS
The overall record for this betting system is 162-114 at the time of publication. That is a 58.7% win rate
and a 13.9% return on investment (ROI). More important than the profitable record is making sure the
system has sound handicapping logic, or more simply, does this make sense?
In the NFL, teams coming off a huge loss would likely be undervalued the following week. Many NFL game
lines are adjusted based on public perception. After this adjustment, sharp bettors will take advantage
and gain some free line value by taking the team coming off of a blowout loss. This system makes logical
sense and has enough of a sample size to merit following in the future.

EXAMPLE SYSTEM 2: NFL MONEYLINE DOGS
BACKGROUND
The original idea for this system was to look at moneyline dogs (underdogs getting plus money) and try to
find any statistics that would create a winning system.
FILTERS USED
We are now looking at a moneyline
system rather than a spread system. All
of the results will be based on the moneyline results rather than if the team was
able to cover the point spread.
For this system, we are using four filters: Season Type, Off Rush Yards, Home/Away, and Moneyline
Range. Again, we are only looking at regular season games.
The Moneyline Range filter works exactly like the Spread Range filter in the previous example. We are
looking at all teams that have a moneyline value between +100 and +230.
We next narrowed our search to only show visiting
teams. When we went into the Home/Away filter, we
saw the following breakdown:
As you can see, visitors were clearly more profitable
than home teams. This is another instance where Bet
Labs easily shows you the breakdown and lets you
come to a quick decision about which direction to go
with your system.
The next step was to comb through the statistics filters to discover which would provide profitable
results. We looked at points per game, total yards per game, and a handful of others that Bet Labs has
available.
We ended up using rushing yards per game and set the minimum to 100 yards, which produced the
following final results:

EXAMPLE SYSTEM 2: NFL MONEYLINE DOGS
ANALYSIS
When compared to our earlier image, the Money Won actually went declined after we added the rushing
yards filter. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the system is worse.
In fact, we would argue that the system has actually improved. You have far fewer games, but you are
making nearly the same amount of money. You are greatly improving your return on investment and, in
turn, decreasing your risk.

EXAMPLE SYSTEM 3: NCAAF UNDERDOGS WITH
LOW TOTALS
BACKGROUND
The idea with this system was to use the closing total to determine if it affected spread results. Would
high totals or low totals be better for favorites or underdogs? Our initial hypothesis was that dogs would
be in a better position to cover spreads if the total was low. With fewer points scored, we were inclined to
think the underdog had a better chance of being able to cover the spread.
FILTERS USED
We first looked at games where the
closing total was 48 or less.
We then checked the Home/Away filter
to see if there was an easy way to
improve the results:
Again, you can see that simply picking visitors is a profitable system. We added this filter to our system and next
looked for a spread range that would be profitable.
Building off our original hypothesis that underdogs would
be profitable, we started by examining any team getting
points.
You can then use the graph provided to find a profitable
range for your system. By changing the endpoints of
your range, the record, money won, ROI, and graph will
all update automatically.

EXAMPLE SYSTEM 3: NCAAF UNDERDOGS WITH
LOW TOTALS
For this system, we set our endpoints at 3 and 14 and our system’s results were revised:
ANALYSIS
Using these endpoints may seem arbitrary, but 3 and 14 are both “key numbers” in football and hold
statistical significance. The results confirm our hypothesis that low totals would increase the probability
that the underdog would cover the spread.
