Helps new immigrants to Canada increase essential skills
in our Alberta labour force. Bredin will provide an
assessment of your workplace essential skills and based
on the results we will tailor a program that is individualized
to your needs in order to enter your identified career option.
The CCI program offers intensive ESL classes for adult
permanent and temporary residents (student, work and
visitor visa holders) that cover all essential skills of
listening, speaking, reading, and writing, rounded out with
grammar and vocabulary and IELTS intensive preparation
classes to help temporary foreign workers succeed in their
language test for immigration.

Basic Needs
Income Support provides financial assistance to Albertans
who do not have the resources to meet their basic needs, like
food, clothing and shelter in four general situations:
1. Cannot work due to chronic health problems or other
barriers to employment (Barriers to Full Employment);
2. Looking for work, working but not earning enough, or
temporarily unable to work (Expected to Work);
3. Need training so they can get a job (Learners);
4. Faced with an unexpected, one-time emergency that is
of no fault of their own, e.g., sudden eviction due to fire
(Emergency Allowance).
