The Cochrane Library
Gold standard for systematic reviews but relatively small collection.
Full text available for all systematic reviews.
Advanced search page gives options to
build a better search. Beware of the
default settings in drop down boxes.
PubMed
Register and sign in to My NCBI to set
up search filters, save searches etc.
There is a filter for ND holdings!
Use Clinical Queries to filter for
Systematic Reviews
Use Limits tab or Filter results to
refine your results if needed.
Free articles may be linked, otherwise
use eJournals A-Z list. Check journal
name or PMID number
PMID # or Name of journal.
PMID search usually gives link
direct to article (if ND has access).
Journal name search will go to
journal if available, then you drill
down to year, vol., issue, page.
Other databases
• Check for limiters e.g. EBP, Systematic
review, RCTs
• If no inbuilt limiters, use keywords:

meta-analysis
randomi* controlled trial
clinical trial
Scopus
Analytics for Journal comparison / metrics.
Register for alerts, save searches etc.
Search terms plus “systematic review”
Limit by date and article type
Results list default is most recent
backwards, click on tabs to re-sort by
relevance or times cited
Click on ‘Check for full text’ to
automatically do the eJournal
A-Z search.
Link will go to list of citations
where this article cited.
