The Step by Step Process
What is this guide going to do for me?
Good question! There are a couple of things this guide is going to do for you. One is to help you
understand the process of repairing your credit and show you how your software subscription makes
it very easy. The other is to give you the step by step process to challenge the most common issues
on the average credit report. This process is actually pretty easy, but it takes time and dedication.
This guide IS NOT intended to cover every every type of credit issue out there, as we cannot possibly
cover all the various types of credit issues that in exist in the kind of detail that you may need. What
this book does do, that many others do not, is give you the step by step process for working with the
credit reporting agencies and some really good examples, tips, processes and sample material to help
you along.
Getting Ready
First you need to get “Organized” by doing a few simple tasks:
1. Create a manilla, or some type of folder, specifically related to all of your credit issues.
2. Make sure you label this folder appropriately, something like “My Credit Issues.” Keep everything
that pertains to raising your credit in this folder as it needs to be kept in a central location.
3. You may also want to keep a separate
calendar or add the dates you are to mail
letters and other tasks to your regular
calendar.
4. Print out this document.

The online system automatically reminds you
to mail your letters and manages your tasks!
www.turnscor.com
By using our online software, you will be able to organize your credit profile to all 3 major reporting
agencies. The system will always prompt you as to your next step. TurnScor has provided written
text as well as video tutorials to provide clarity in the process. If you do get stuck, click on the
Contact Us feature, and someone will get back to you to resolve your issue. Remember, time is
going to pass either way, STAY pro-active!
Step One
The first thing you’ll need to do is get your personal credit profile. You will want to get a profile from
all three credit reporting bureaus:
• Trans Union
• Experian
• Equifax
They will either give you your CREDIT SCORE as part of the sign up or offer it at an extra charge,
either way make sure you obtain your credit score so you can see how much progress you
make over the next several months. This may cost a fee, but it’s worth it. This allows you to have your
complete credit profile. To do this, open your favorite web browser and navigate to one the addresses
below. We recommend http://www.mycreditkeeper.com, but you can use any company that provides
you all three reports or what is called a “tri-merge” which combines all three scores at once.
www.annualcreditreport.com
www.mycreditkeeper.com
Step Two
Now that you have your credit profile, next you’ll need to create a summary grid of all the derogatory
items within your credit profile. This is how you’ll recognize and understand how the credit agencies
report items that are obviously inaccurate.
Attached is a sample grid (Attachment A - Sample Derogatory Summary Grid) and a blank grid
(Attachment B - Blank Derogatory Summary Grid) and the Account history section from an actual
credit profile (Attachment C - Sample Public Records) so you can see how to view each item and
load it into your desktop grid. Notice how each item doesn’t report the same way all the time to each
bureau. This creates an opening for you to challenge the accuracy of each item in your profile. Keep
in mind, once an item is deleted it cannot be re-inserted into your profile.
To create the grid, you simply copy the derogatory information directly from your credit profile
into your Derogatory Summary Grid. See Attachment A - Sample Derogatory Summary Grid
and Attachment C - Sample Public Records. Use these as an example for copying your credit
information from YOUR credit profile to Attachment B - Blank Derogatory Summary Grid. The
Derogatory Summary Grid is where you will build your “database” of the items you want to challenge.
Below are definitions of the columns in the grid:
• Account Name: This describes the creditor in question that you are going to challenge (i.e.
GMAC, MBNA, NCO Collections).
• EXP: This the the abbreviation for EXPERIAN
• CSC: This is the abbreviation for CSC/EQUIFAX
• TU: This is the abbreviation for Trans Union.
Completing this grid is very important for challenging items in your file. The law (FCRA) clearly says
that anything in your credit profile has to be Accurate and verifiable, not by you personally,
but by the subscribers (creditors). By filling out this grid, you will be using it to create a series of
challenge letters to the three major credit reporting agencies. By creating these challenge letters,
you put the burden of proof on the subscribers (creditors) to prove the accuracy of the account(s)
in question. These are the very same creditors that use your credit information to determine what
rate of interest they charge you to access their loans or credit. Making them prove this information
is time consuming and difficult, thus allowing you to raise your personal credit score and saving you
thousands of dollars in finance and interest charges over your lifetime.
You can refer to the Attachment C - Sample Public Records (taken from the sample credit profile)
and the Attachment A - Sample Derogatory Grid as a reference. You will notice that these have
“A,” “B,” “C,” and “D” written on them showing you where the information on one Account History
from the credit profile should be copied on the Sample Derogatory Grid.
Note: Be very thorough on your data entry in the summary grid. This is
the foundation of all your challenge letters, and It needs to be accurate.
Reading Your Credit Profile:
Your credit profile is broken into 3 segments:
• Personal Information - your name, your address, how long you have lived at your present
address, previous residences, aliases, employment information
• Public Records - bankruptcies, judgments, tax liens, etc.
• Account History - all of your creditors and everything in relation to them: payment history,
balances, minimum payment and current status
www.turnscor.com
Remember to verify all entries twice for accuracy.
All of these things put together are computed by a complex mathematical equation to create your
personal credit score. With that said, we need to discuss what the different letters mean and why you
are filling out the different columns in your Derogatory Summary Grid.
You need to go through your credit profile
www.turnscor.com
one account at a time and identify whether or
Remember to verify all entries twice for accuracy.
not it’s a “positive” or “negative” account. If it
is a “positive,” you DO NOT list it on your summary grid. If it is a “negative,” then you need to enter
the account name, account number and the status. The status is simply whether it is a charge off,
collection, public record or late payment. The following list explains these further:
• C: This is the abbreviation for a collection or charge-off in the credit profile. You are challenging
the accuracy not the validity.
• P: This is the abbreviation for a public record. This could be a bankruptcy, judgment or tax lien.
You are challenging the accuracy not the validity.
• L: This is the abbreviation for a late payment of a current or open, active account. You are
challenging the accuracy not the validity.
This applies to all three types of which include revolving accounts, mortgage accounts or installment
accounts.
• Revolving Accounts - A revolving account does not have a fixed term, meaning the credit
doesn’t have a set expiration date. Any and all credit cards are this type.
• Mortgage Account - This is different from an installment account because, though it has a
fixed term, it is attached to a property. Home or investment property loans and home equity
lines of credit are this type of account.
• Installment Account - This means the loan has a fixed term then you are done. Examples of
this type of loan are auto loans, boat loans, etc.
Step Three
Now that you have you’ve created your summary grid with the items that need to be challenged, you
need to pick the first seven items (if you have that many) from each of the three credit bureaus and
create your first challenge letter. If you have more than seven, you need to make a mark next to the
ones you challenged on your first round. You then wait 30 days and send off another initial challenge
on the next group of seven until you’ve challenged every item in your profile as you feel is inaccurate.
You have many shells to choose from. They are grouped together (initial challenges, collection items,
2nd round challenges, etc.) so you need to pick one that you feel best suits your personal situation
and simply fill in the blanks.
Use the provided examples as a guide: Attachment A - Sample Derogatory Grid and Attachment
D - Sample Challenge Letter. You will notice that these have “A,” “B,” “C,” and “D” written on them
to indicate the relationship between each document. Attachment C - Sample Public Records
(taken from the sample credit profile).
Print the first set of challenge letters and sign the bottom. These letters can be printed using an inkjet
or laser printer.
www.turnscor.com
Our online system processes this in the proper order for you!
It is very important that you provide proper documentation of who you are. The bureaus will look
to ignore your request and call it frivolous if you cannot prove your identity. Be sure to enclose the
following with each challenge letter:
• Photocopy of your driver’s license or state identification card
• Photocopy of your social security card or equivalent (1099/W-2, something from a government
official with your name and social security attached to it
• Photocopy of a current utility bill (gas, electric, cell phone) with your address on it
We have enclosed examples of what the three major bureaus do in order to “DELAY” processing your
request. Please follow these important steps to ensure the best results. See Attachment E - Sample
Delay Letter.
In order to ensure proper delivery and establish a legal 30 day time line with the bureaus, it is
strongly recommended you send everything “CERTIFIED” mail. If you are unfamiliar with this process,
the best way to familiarize yourself with it is to:
1. Refer to the video on our website www.utrnscor.com. It will be explained in greater detail.
2. Take your letters to your local post office and ask them to help you.
3. Follow our step by step guide included in this e-book - Attachment F - Certified Letter
Process.
Why certified mail? The bureaus don’t really want to fix your credit profile. When you send them a
challenge letter via regular mail, who is to say they ever received it. Perhaps it literally got lost in
the mail. You’re waiting for the results and none come. Guess what? They hope you’ll forget and
just give up! By sending them “CERTIFIED” mail, you not only can
track your letters (www.usps.com), but it ensures a response from
the credit bureaus. Once you’ve sent off your challenge letters, you
need to wait for the confirmation receipts. This is the date that the
bureau actually signed for your letter. The clock starts ticking from
this moment. Then sit back, relax and allow the process to unfold. Be
sure to open any all mail from this moment forward. The bureaus like
to send off items to stall you. It looks like junk mail. Don’t let them
throw you off track. Keep everything you’ve received in your “GET
Get Organized
ORGANIZED” folder so nothing gets lost in the shuffle.
Step Four
It’s been 30 days, and you’ve just received your first updated credit profile (by law, the FCRA states
the credit bureaus must send you a FREE copy of your credit profile if you challenge the accuracy of
an item in your profile) from one of the three major credit bureaus. Now that you have received this
updated credit profile, you will need to do the following steps:
1. You need to compare the “RESULTS” of the items challenged (in your initial letter) with what
is now being reported in your updated personal credit profile.
2. You will need to compare the results (see Attachment G - Sample Results Letter) with your
summary grid and see which items were successfully “deleted.” This is where you mark the
item off your summary grid (use a hi-liter) so you can chart your progress. Lots of color on your
summary grid means you are RAISING your personal credit score!
3. You will also want to make sure no additional items (derogatory accounts) have been added
to your profile that you were unaware of that affect your personal credit score.
Note: This verification and update process continues with all three credit reporting agencies.
4. Now you need to review your summary grid once again and select the remaining items you
want to challenge and which letter fits your situation.
You will then follow Steps Two through Four again and create a new (2nd round) series of letters
and start the process again. This will continue until you’ve successfully removed the items in your
profile which you feel are inaccurate, outdated or invalid.
www.turnscor.com
The software was designed to keep you organized, on task, and the ability to track all of your
results in one area of your personal dashboard.
Summary
This process is essentially an easy one. The thing we tell our customers is that the devil is in the
details. Remember, the credit reporting agencies DO NOT want to help you with this. It is truly in their
best interest to have your credit where it is. The credit card companies, loan companies and others
make more money on your account if they can justify giving you a higher interest rate, and your credit
score is that justification. Please be diligent and follow the steps outlined in this guide and make sure
to keep track of your information. Keep a calendar or reminder system for yourself and simply follow
up on the process. It is very easy to forget or put this off. Yes, it is a long process. Yes, it is tedious, but
remember, it is designed to be this way to deter you from following the process and to keep you from
a higher credit score. Lower credit scores mean more money for the creditors!
Let’s face it, life is busy, Advanced Credit Technologies understands that, which is why we created
this software platform to assist you in this process. We want to “EMPOWER” you to manage your
personal credit score, not some disinterested third party or attorney. All of this was created for
“YOU” please take advantage of all the learning tools and educational products we have put
together. The bureaus and creditors want you think its impossible to raise your credit profile. By
using this platform you can show them differently. Good luck from the TurnScor TEAM!

Attachment I - Repeat the process
Now that you have successfully completed your first round of Challenge Letters and have updated your
Summary Grid, it is time to repeat the process. You will now follow Step Four again and create a new
(2nd round) series of letters and start the process again. This will continue until you’ve successfully
removed the items in your profile which you feel are inaccurate, outdated or invalid.
