Building For The Future Spring 2014 Zoo Attendance Best Ever! CARNIVORE TRAIL UPDATE Sponsors generously stepping forward with in-kind support. Now, we need community support to make it happen! See page 2 Summer Attendance Up 27% Since 2010, summer attendance at the Saskatoon Zoo has grown from roughly 112,000 to over 142,400 visitors. That’s a 27% increase. This has led to a corresponding increase in admission revenues—up 42% in 2013 compared to 2010. From major corporations to local businesses, charitable organizations, family foundations and individuals— the community has stepped up to support the Zoo. It’s proof positive that ‘if you build it, they will come.’ Over the past decade, donor support has enabled the Zoo to build beautiful new facilities—the PotashCorp Ark Phases I and II, Kinsmen Bear Exhibit (home of grizzly brothers Koda and Mistaya), Ron & Muriel Bremner Raptor Roost, McDonald’s Natural Place to Play Playground, Affinity Learning Centre and Lion’s Event Pavilion. There have also been improvements to wildlife exhibits, visitor facilities and signage throughout the Zoo. “Starting with the PotashCorp Ark, donors have created a level of excitement that has turned the zoo from one of Saskatoon’s least known attractions into one of the most popular in the province,” says John Moran, Manager of the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo. The Zoo’s transformation would not have been possible without the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of remarkable donors.
