Many have endured back-to-back deployments and have survived multiple insurgent attacks.
Others are returning home with life-changing injuries requiring the need for special support services.
Their experiences while bravely serving our nation during a time of war may be different –

transition back to civilian life … to their homes, jobs and communities.
In appreciation for your dedication to your country and our American heroes, I have enclosed a
very special gift – a limited-edition AMERICAN PROUD lapel pin.
I’ve sent you this special pin in appreciation for your commitment to all of those brave Americans
who have served our country – including those who continue to sacrifice so much for our freedom.
But that’s not all …
When you return the enclosed AMERICAN PROUD reply form to me – with your very best gift

A gift TODAY insures that The American Legion can continue to provide critical services for our
troops, veterans and their families. These services will:
• Help provide shelter, food and healthcare through emergency assistance for struggling military
families. From car repairs to yard work, we are ready to help military families that struggle
during their loved-one's absence and when they return home.
• Help provide critical healthcare through The American Legion’s specially trained service officers
– trained advocates for our heroes – who are on the ground in every state helping veterans
navigate the often confusing VA healthcare system, including filing and appealing claims.
• Help wounded servicemembers adjust to life-altering injuries through programs like Operation
Comfort Warriors. We are there to help severely wounded soldiers during their long hospital
stays in military medical centers like Walter Reed, and we help them transition to civilian life
when they finally return home, connecting them to support services in their hometowns
q I would like to receive periodic email updates from The American Legion.
My email address is: PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE?
q Please send me information on supporting our veterans with a bequest to The American Legion
in my will.
q I have already included The American Legion in my will.
Please make check payable to: The American Legion.

q
I wouldn't be calling on your commitment and asking for your help if the need wasn't so great.
With more new veterans returning home every day, the need is more urgent now than ever before.
By following THREE EASY STEPS, you have the opportunity to honor our returning veterans
in a very meaningful way. I am counting on you … our veterans are counting on you!
q I have included a check.
q Please charge my credit card.
Our new veterans will face incredible challenges as they come home to their communities, jobs
and families. They will face stresses, uncertainties and anxiety as they transition back to civilian life.
They need our support … that is why I am asking for your help today!
