The Royal Australian Navy 2013 International Fleet Review is one of Australia’s most significant commemorative events of the past 100 years.
It marks a centenary since thousands of cheering people lined Sydney Harbour on 4 October 1913 to welcome the Royal Australian Navy’s new fleet
of seven ships led by the Flagship, HMAS Australia. This was a day of great national pride and importance, and a milestone in our nation’s maturity.
On 4 October 2013 Australia will celebrate this historic event with the symbolic arrival of seven current HMA Ships led by HMAS Sydney (IV). The
Royal Australian Navy will be joined by an international flotilla of warships and tall ships as well as military bands from more than 20 foreign navies.
A spectacular program of commemorative events will run from 3-11 October 2013.
To commemorate the occasion, and to afford all the opportunity be a part of this historic milestone, we commissioned a special artwork by renowned
Australian Maritime artist Don Braben. His evocative painting, ‘Centenary of First Fleet’ depicts the seven ships of the first fleet steaming toward
