Amsterdam Central Station
NDSM Wharf
Come and visit the NDSM wharf, where once
the largest ships of the world were built.
When the curtain fell on the shipbuilding
industry in 1984, things turned quiet around
here for a while. Nowadays, the NDSM
wharf is a “terrain vague”, a hotchpotch of
old and new, shabby and monumental,
beautiful and ugly. A lot of industrial
buildings are now renovated and have new
destinations, but some of them are still in
original style. The Warehouse is an example
from an industrial building which is partly
renovated. It is also the place where the
artists have their ateliers and definitely
worth visiting. At the wharf there are some
really nice restaurants ,where you can also
sit and enjoy the beautiful view across the
waters of the IJ. Feel welcome at this old
shipyard.

Industrial Heritage Line
Bus 391, Industrial Heritage Line, is the
easiest and most comfortable way of getting
to the Zaanse Schans. Besides you can visit
the NDSM Wharf and Zaandam Centre. Bus
391 departs every 15 minutes from platform E
at bus station IJzijde at Amsterdam Central
Station. In this information map you will find
all the information you need to discover a
unique part of The Netherlands.
Have a nice day!
Over the last ten years the centre of Zaandam
has undergone a real metamorphosis. In the
centre you will not only find the Czar Peter
House but also a wide range of shops and
food outlets. A new canal spanned by
unusual bridges leads to the locks and the
Dam, the focal point for nightlife in the
whole of the Zaan region.
The visually stunning Intell hotel has an
impressive façade. The structure is a lively
stacking of various examples of the
traditional houses.
