Calthorpe Park School Presents…
Tuesday 9th – Friday 12th July 2013
School Hall
7pm
Book, Music and Lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey
Programme 50p
Note from director
It was only going to be a matter of time before Calthorpe Park tackled the
hugely popular and much loved musical ‘Grease’, with its much loved
characters, memorable songs and energetic dance routines – not to
mention ‘The Car’!
In previous years I have been so proud of all the students’ hard work,
focus, dedication and commitment to the School Production and this year
is no exception, they have all worked tirelessly on producing a fantastic
show for everyone to watch and enjoy. I would like to thank all the cast,
musicians and back stage crew for all their help, what a great company
you are!
It is always challenging trying to recreate a classic, such as ‘Grease’ but I
feel we have established the essence of the musical by putting our own
‘Calthorpe stamp’ on it. Some scenes are very stylised, others capture
glimmers of the original choreography and staging that everyone knows
and loves.
I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in producing
‘Grease’ – it has been a lot of fun. My amazing department for all the
hours devoted to rehearsal, the Music Department for their dedication
and commitment to the show and of course the Technology department
for building our set – the Car is fantastic! To all other staff who have
helped in anyway, it couldn’t be done without you.
Finally, but by no means least, a huge thank you to parents, you are
always so supportive and understanding of the demands of the show,
from buying costumes to countless emails offering help, I really do
appreciate it all so much.
Sit back, relax and enjoy the show…or stand up and sing along!
