A Message from Paul Garman
Executive Director / Producer
Welcome to our 16th annual Broadway in the Park! This incredible
fundraiser would not happen every year without the dedication of over
150 volunteers who give of their time and talent to create a successful
event. We especially want to thank Event Chair, Marnos Lelesi and the
wonderful Broadway in the Park Committee, as well as our outstanding
volunteers listed later in the program. We also want to acknowledge
our table sponsors and underwriters, whose contributions lay the
foundation on which to build a successful event.
A special thank you to the members of Musical Theatre West
Footlighters for hosting the VIP Party and the Musical Theatre West
Guild who work the event, as well as the members of the Musical
Theatre West Board of Directors and Board of Trustees who help
obtain and underwrite the live and silent auction items. Also a special
thank you goes to the wonderful MTW staff and technical crew whose
expertise help produce this evening. A huge thanks to all of tonight’s
performers, Cindy and Tam of Striking Elegance, Jim Choura and
Tiffany DeSena of Grand Food & Beverage, as well as Ryan Choura
of Choura Events, who each year so generously help underwrite
Broadway in the Park, allowing us to raise more money for our
Education and Outreach Programs.
Most of all, we want to express our deep appreciation to each of you
for attending tonight’s event. We hope you enjoy the evening and look
forward to seeing you next year!

In addition, the Musical Theatre West staff spends many months making Broadway
in the Park appear to be an effortless, perfect evening under the stars and so some
special thanks are due there as well. Thanks to Gloria Nelson, who tackled the event
as the committee liaison and did a Herculean job coordinating such varied aspects
from contracts with the city to reservations and data entry into our computer system.
To Mary Ritenhour and Jenny Jacobs, for pulling together the entertainment aspects
of the evening, the pieces that make Broadway in the Park so special. To Michael
Betts and the box office staff for assisting with last minute details. And to our interns,
Katie Marshall and Bren Johnson, who assisted in so many ways.
Successful bidders should retain the auction contract for their records. Fair Market Values
listed on the contract are estimated by the donor, where available, and are not guaranteed by
Musical Theatre West. Please consult your tax advisor.
Auction Quick-Check System: When you check in at the event, you will have the opportunity
to register your credit card information with Musical Theatre West staff. If you make no
purchases during the evening, your credit card information will be destroyed.

Since 1991, MTW’s Education and Outreach
Program has held special weekday performances
to introduce children to live musical theatre. We
are pleased to say that to date over 165,000 kids
have attended these performances.
Over the last six
years MTW has also
gone into the schools
with specially-written
assemblies that demonstrate both the educational
and entertainment value of musical theatre.
With the current cuts in arts education in the
schools, these experiences may be their only
exposure to live musical theatre, as well as
their only field trip during the year. Judging
by the expressions on their faces and their
interactions with the cast, it’s an experience
they won’t soon forget!
Since the inception of the program 11 years ago,
our Footlighters have awarded over $56,000 in
scholarships to deserving local students. We are
particularly honored that since the inauguration
of the NHSMT Awards in New York City 5 years
ago, MTW Scholarship Winners have won 3 out
of the 5 years.
Thanks to your support, MTW has been able
to expand its conservatories and workshops
and to help Wilson High School reinvigorate
their drama program, helping produce their
first musical in ten years. We look forward to
continuing these programs in the coming years.
Your participation in Broadway in the Park helps ensure that Musical Theatre
West can reach the hearts and minds of young children throughout the
region with the joy and magic of live musical theatre. On behalf of all of the
students whose lives are enriched through these programs, we offer our
heartfelt thanks for your support.
