AIX EN JUIN
A PRELUDE TO THE FESTIVAL D'AIX
Now a much acclaimed stalwart of the summer in Aix, Aix en Juin is the festive
predecessor of the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence. Since its founding in 2013, this event
has brought together an ever growing and enthusiastic audience as well as a rich
program: recitals, concerts, master classes and opera rehearsals. All of these events
precede the productions in July, offering the opportunity to explore new and varied
musical landscapes, for free, or indeed at a reduced rate.
Aix en Juin also features some exceptional artists; young talents from the Académie
du Festival or major artists performing in the productions of the Festival. Their
presence is complemented by the innovative projects designed for nonprofessionals by the socio-artistic and educational department of the Festival d’Aixen-Provence.
Since meeting and participation is so fundamental to the projects at Aix en Juin, a
festive gathering will be held at the very middle of the city for attendees, where
they will have the pleasure of an exceptional evening of music with the artists of
the Festival.
Last but certainly not least, to celebrate the coming of July and to mark the end of
such a beautiful prelude, what could be more befitting than a PARADE[S]? A
veritable tradition rooted in the identity of Aix en Juin, this grand concert, free to
all, will light up the crowd to the rhythm of a program comprising American gospel,
traditional African songs, and opera arias by the Cape Town opera Chorus.

ACADÉMIE
DU FESTIVAL D'AIX
The Académie du Festival d’Aix has become a benchmark of excellence
in education for musicians and singers, as well as a workshop where
young artists can hone their skills, reflect, and experiment in the domain
of opera creation. The Académie offers these young professionals the
opportunity to be hosted in residency programs, to perform in concerts
or operas for the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence, and to tour in France and
abroad.Through four areas of specialization (singing and voice, chamber
music, opera creation and orchestra) the Académie promotes values
such as cultural dialogue, cultural development in the form of
multidisciplinary and cross-cultural projects, innovation, and cultural
mediation. Through the Académie's networks of enoa (European
Network of Opera Academies) and Medinea (Mediterranean Incubator
of Emerging Artists), the Académie encourages the professional mobility
of young artists within the Euro-Mediterranean region throughout the
year, encouraging the forging of new artistic and cultural connections.

PASSRELLES
EDUCATIONAL & SOCIAL-ARTISTIC ACTIVITIES
As a major promoter of innovation in the democratization of art and
culture, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence created "Passerelles" to
introduce opera to the very young, and to underprivileged audiences.
Constantly evolving since their creation, "‘Passerelles" are veritable
laboratories, flourishing each year with new initiatives and new dialogues
involving schoolteachers, pedagogical artists, educational partners and
the Festival's teams and audience. These activities are evaluated regularly
to maintain a high standard, ensuring the Festival retains an invaluable
dynamism, actively partaking in the local and regional development of
culture.

For many years now, we have been able to rely on the substantial
support of companies and the involvement of their business leaders,
their teams, as well as on the faithful support of numerous donors
and opera lovers, all of whom have proven to be true supporters of
the festival. These friends of the Festival are strongly committed to
sustaining the Festival’s development. On an average global budget of
23.1 million Euros, this financial support represents nearly 20% of
the revenue: 80% coming from national and regional businesses, and
20% from individual supporters.
