reparing our children for eternity
is the most important job on
earth! The Bible says in Proverbs
22:6 (ESV), “Train up a child in the way
he should go; even when he is old he will
not depart from it.” That’s a beautiful
promise for parents as well as a great
incentive to raise kids to love Jesus. A
lot of prayer is needed to accomplish
this task because this sinful world makes
it even more challenging to keep kids’
minds on spiritual things. We are warned
in 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV), “Be alert and of
sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls

around like a roaring lion looking for
someone to devour.”
This world we live in gets more dangerous every day, because Satan has
mastered the art of disguising sin so that
not only children, but parents, as well,
are fooled by his deceptions. Some of the
tools the devil uses are television, video
games, books, spiritualism, and music,
just to name a few. It’s not always the
tools that are wrong—it’s what kids are
watching, reading, and doing with them!
That’s why parents need to make sure
they are spiritually feeding their kids.
SPIRITUAL FOOD
During the holidays there’s a lot of
focus on gift-giving—especially for kids.
3ABN has a whole basket full of spiritual food for kids of all ages. It’s never
too early to start teaching little ones just
who Jesus is and how much He loves
them. My sisters, Linda Johnson and
Cinda Sanner, authored a set of three
Tiny Tot for Jesus books that do just that,
as well as a coloring book, and a Tiny Tot
CD with songs that are easy to learn and
remember!
There are lots of products for older
kids, too. I wrote a five-volume series
of books called Miss Brenda’s Bedtime
Stories that are filled with true, character-building stories, and there’s a set of
audio books with me reading each of the
stories. They can listen in the car, waiting
for an appointment, or even falling asleep
at night—filling their hearts and minds
with a desire to be more like Jesus!
A special book I co-wrote with my
friend, Kay Kuzma, called Prayer Promises for Kids is designed to help kids pray,
claiming Bible promises—and all the
topics are things that kids pray about.
Kids are greatly influenced by music,
and that’s why Danny Shelton wrote songs
teaching God’s Bible truth. You can hear
him and the kids singing them on his two
projects, Love Rules and It’s a Beautiful
World. Also, Jimmy Rhodes and I created a
variety of music products called Kids Time
Praise that includes a songbook, tracks,
CDs, and a DVD of songs that kids will
be singing all day long.
Of course we can’t forget DVDs of Tiny
Tots for Jesus, Kids Time, and Kids Time
Praise. Kids can watch these programs
when it is convenient for mom or dad,
instead of having to wait for the program
