DAY 1: Maggiore Lake, stresa and THE BORROMEAN ILANDS
Afternoon
• You will be met at Milan Malpensa (or Linate) International Airport and transferred by
limousine along the splendid scenarios offered by this beautiful northern Italy’s lake.
Departure to Stresa, which has been a popular retreat for Europe’s aristocrats, who have
endowed the town with a number of villas. One famous visitor in 1948 was Ernest Hemingway
who set part of his novel “Farewell to Arms” in the Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées.
• Arrival in Stresa and check-in at Villa Aminta.
The Villa, overlooking the Borromeo Gulf and beautiful islands of Isola Bella, Isola Madre
and Isola dei Pescatori, rises in a heaven of peace facing the Maggiore Lake and it is sunk
in the thousand nuances of the azaleas, camellias and rhododendrons surrounded by the
intense green of centuries old trees. Stresa has also an outstanding botanic garden, which
is worth visiting.

• Stop at Verbania, a garden on the lake”: this is the image of itself with which Verbania, in
its marvellous natural setting on the Borromean Gulf, welcomes visitors. Gardens and parks
are a major tourist attraction of the area, an ideal destination for those seeking a relaxing
holiday with, as backdrop, a landscape of breathtaking beauty and harmony.

Departure by Limousine in direction of Ascona
• Ascona is located at 196 meters above sea level on the northern shore of Maggiore Lake.
Ascona is famous for its mild climate, its Old Town and a lake promenade that is dotted with
street cafés and boasts a Latin ambience. The church of San Pietro e Paolo, which is located
in Ascona’s old centre of town, Borgo, is well worth a visit.
• Arrival in Ascona and check-in at Relais Hotel Giardino.
The Giardino cultivates excellence right down to the small detail. ”Un po’ di più” (a little bit
more) is the motto of this hotel, whose ochre-coloured façade rises elegantly out of a Garden
of Eden with mimosas, camellias and magnolias: the perfect setting for coffee or aperitif
around the water lily pond.

DAY 3: Driving to Cerisio Lake and Lugano
Route: Ascona Locarno Bellinzona Lugano
Morning
• Meeting at the hotel hall with your personal chauffeur, an expert driver, who will be on
hand for the whole length of your Tour of Italy by Limousine.
Departure by Limousine in direction of Locarno
• Locarno is situated on the banks of the River Maggia. The river empties into the breathtakingly
beautiful Lake Locarno, forming a small delta. The Piazza Grande is the landmark of Locarno.
The Piazza leads to many smaller streets where old mansions stand in grand majesty. The
Castello Visconteo is another one of the tourist attractions of Switzerland. Once owned by the
powerful Visconti clan, the Castello houses the Municipal and Archaeological Museum.
Tour by Limousine of Verzasca valley
The Verzasca valley is situated in the geometrical centre of the canton of Ticino. It is surrounded
by the Alps with passes to the neighbouring valleys at the altitude of 2000-2500m and has
a single access road from Gordola (near Locarno). The valley is very narrow (V-shaped) and
extends north for about 25km. This geographical position and a very narrow valley floor is
the reason for a very limited infrastructure. Verzasca is considered the wildest major valley
in Ticino - one that preserved its original beauty and traditional architecture in form of old
stone houses (rustici).
• If you love history, don’t miss Bellinzona, in the Swiss canton of Ticino, is the site of
three medieval castles named by UNESCO in 2001 as a World Heritage Site. The three
castles - Castelgrande, Montebello and Sasso Corbaro – along with the fortifications of the
market town, are the only example of well preserved late medieval military architecture in
the Alpine area and are just one of four World Heritage Sites in Switzerland, the others are:
the old town of Bern, the Abbey of St. Gallen and the Mustair convent.

Lugano city is situated on the beautiful lake Lugano between Mount San Salvatore and
Mount Bre. It is the most alluring of the Ticino’s lake resorts as it has cluster of Italianate
piazzas and extensive tree-lined promenades. Lugano faces the south bay of the cerulean
blue Lago di Lugano and possesses some of the most beautiful lakes. But the city is not

Cernobbio is an elegant tourist village known worldwide for some villas, such as Villa Erba
and Villa d’Este itself, once owned by very important Italian personalities.
Set on the shores of Como Lake, Villa d’Este is located in one of the most important
crossroads between Italy and Northern Europe. As Herb Caen stated about the Villa, «the
precise location of heaven on earth has never been established but it may very well be right
here.»
