Wide-eyed developer Warner LeRoy dreamed up
the idea for Great Adventure, which opened in 1974, as
a fanciful “entertainment park” deep in the woods of central New Jersey. Many of LeRoy’s grandiose plans for this
complex never came to be; the property was purchased by
Six Flags in 1977 and evolved into a regional theme park.
The Arrow mine train coaster Runaway Train opened with
the park; since then, the coaster collection has seen much
machinery come and go. In the 1990s the park hit its thrill
ride stride.
Today, enthusiasts from around the globe are drawn to
Six Flags Great Adventure for El Toro, one of the top-rated
wooden coasters in the world; the record-breaking Kingda
Ka, an Intamin accelerator; five B&M coasters, including
the popular hypercoaster Nitro; two indoor coasters and
two juniors. The park boasts a classic Arrow log flume, a
rare twin-cable Skyway, the only Intamin Parachute drop
in the U.S., and the world-record Zumanjaro: Drop of
Doom, which made its 415-foot, 95 mph debut in 2014.
It’s all in a setting that has maintained the enchanted forest charm and fantasy architecture from 40 years ago.

Brothers Bill and Will Morey, successful Wildwood
businessmen and developers in the 1950s and 60s, took
their first dip into the world of amusements with a giant 15-lane ripple slide called Wipeout, which appeared in
1969 along the boardwalk in North Wildwood. From that
one attraction grew Morey’s Surfside Pier; Morey’s later
expanded into the plural “piers” as other amusement places
along the boardwalk were acquired.
Today, Will’s sons, Will Morey Jr. and Jack Morey,
are second-generation owner-operators and have grown
the family business to include three amusement piers,
two beachfront waterparks and a collection of hotel resort
properties.
The Morey brothers never shy away from a daring idea,
and this year’s new attraction proves it: Kong, an elevated
Flying Scooters ride that must be seen to be believed.
Attendees will enjoy six coasters among Morey’s Piers,
including Great White, the 1996 CCI beachside woodie;
Great Nor’Easter, the only SLC refitted with Vekoma’s
“Freedom Flight” vehicles; the centerpiece Sea Serpent,
America’s first Boomerang (1984); and the fun-for-all
Zierer Flitzer. Other one-of-a-kind attractions include
the epic Zoom Phloom and the seriously haunted walkthrough Ghost Ship.

John and Esther Fricano wanted to create a fun place
as a stopover for families with small children on the way
to the Jersey shore. In 1955, they opened Storybook Land
along the Black Horse Pike, then the main auto route from
Philadelphia to Atlantic City. The same age as Disneyland,
Storybook Land has grown in its 60 years into a 20-acre
wonderland of storybook- and nursery rhyme-themed
rides and attractions.
Enthusiasts will particularly thrill to Bubbles the Coaster, a 2000 E&F Miler junior that maxes out at 18 mph.
Now operated by the second and third generations of
the Fricano family, Storybook Land continues to develop
quality family attractions like 2014’s Work Zone, a ridethrough adventure on kid-sized construction rigs that was
developed in-house.

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, adjacent to Six Flags Great
Adventure, is one of the world’s largest and most thrilling
waterparks. Admission to Hurricane Harbor is included
all three days of our visit to Six Flags. A shuttle runs between the gates of Great Adventure and Hurricane Harbor every 20
minutes.
Attendees will have first-in-line privileges Monday
and Tuesday for Six Flags’ Safari Off Road Adventure,
a 2013 reinvention of the former drive-thru safari into
an uber-attraction within Great Adventure. Guests ride
through the habitats of 1,200 wild animals in open offroad vehicles. This experience can last up to two hours, or longer, and
is recommended for early in the day in order to avoid long waits and
make the most of your day.
At the ocean ends of two of Morey’s Piers are
a pair of innovative, immersive waterparks:
Ocean Oasis at Surfside Pier, and Raging
Waters at Mariner’s Landing. Admission to
both waterparks is included for the length of
our stay in Wildwood.
In 2013, shipping containers were arranged into a seaside creative environment on Morey’s Adventure Pier:
artBOX. This unique collection of retail, specialty food
and drink stands, live art, performance space and retired
amusement ride vehicles is not to be missed. Late night
ERT on Thursday will include entertainment at artBOX.

World Village, the Orlando-based resort
that gives children with life-threatening illnesses and their families week-long, costfree fantasy vacations. Proceeds from Breakfast in the Sky and Ice Cream for Breakfast will benefit Give Kids The

BREAKFAST IN THE SKY
As seen on TV, Breakfast in the Sky transforms cabins of the
Giant Wheel on Mariner’s Landing into dining cars for four. Coaster
Con attendees will have an opportunity to experience this award-winning attraction. Morey’s Piers will offer a pre-selected menu on the
morning of Thursday, June 25 from 8:45 to 11 a.m. (approximately).
Capacity for the entire morning is limited to approximately 150,
so not all attendees will be able to particpate. A minimum donation of
$25 per person will be requested for this experience (the regular cost
of Breakfast in the Sky is $85 per couple, or $160 for a party of four).

2015. Seating is in order of line, with no pre-reserved times. You may
be re-grouped in order to fill each cabin with parties of four.

morning.

Members not attending the convention are encouraged to attend the
annual business meeting on Tuesday,
June 23. There will be no charge to
enter the park, but members attending only the business meeting must
leave the park immediately afterward.

This year’s buffet-style banquet
will be at the Wildwoods Convention
Center, on the Boardwalk in Wildwood, on the evening of Thursday,
June 25. The Convention Center is
within walking distance of Morey’s
Piers.
Our 2015 keynote speakers will
be Will and Jack Morey, the secondgeneration owners and operators of
Morey’s Piers and Beachfront Waterparks.
The buffet will feature chefcarved New York sirloin, lemon caper
chicken and grilled vegetable kabobs
on rice pilaf. A children’s meal, with
chicken fingers and french fries, is
available for banquet guests ages
3–11.
Don’t miss out! Add the banquet to your registration: $43 for each
adult, and $17 for each child’s meal.
While there is no dress code for the
banquet, business casual or resort evening attire is suggested. Please, no Tshirts or shorts.
PARKING

your party has a processed season pass
prior to arriving for the convention,
Sunday-only parking passes will be
available at registration.
Storybook Land Parking is free.
Morey’s Piers The amusement piers do
not have parking facilities. The general
practice at hotels in the Wildwoods,
Morey’s and others allows for one vehicle per room.
With the setting of accommodations, boardwalk and piers so close, it’s
best to plan to leave cars at your hotel
and walk to Coaster Con activities.
For those in accommodations
farther away in Wildwood Crest, Morey’s will provide trolley transportation
between the Port Royal Hotel and
Mariner’s Landing, stopping at other
hotels. Circuit time will be approximately 30 minutes.
For those staying at hotels off
the island, or otherwise beyond walking distance or trolley, street parking
at meters is available at $2/hour, and
there are privately owned commercial
parking lots close to the piers.
In consideration of the unusual
parking situation, Morey’s Piers is
working on securing lots for as many
excess vehicles as possible, but it is not
guaranteed.
Also note that while Coaster Con
activities run until 3 p.m. on Friday,
June 26, many hotels, including Morey’s, require that vehicles be moved
from hotel parking by the 11 a.m.
check-out time. You may make use
of Morey’s excess lots as available, or
use meters or commercial lots for the
afternoon.
GETTING
AROUND
Six Flags Great Adventure,
Holiday Inn East Windsor and
Days Inn East Windsor are located
in central New Jersey, all an hour or
less from either Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) or Newark Liberty International Airport
(EWR). From either direction, the
New Jersey Turnpike is the most
convenient route to the area.
Holiday Inn East Windsor and Days Inn East Windsor
are adjacent to interchange 8 of
the New Jersey Turnpike (NJ 33/
Hightstown-Freehold). Both are
located exactly 20 miles, via highways, from Six Flags Great Adventure.
Six Flags Great Adventure is
located along county route 537, one
mile southwest of exit 16A from
I-195, which is ten miles east of
New Jersey Turnpike interchange
7A. If approaching from the shore
area, it is 20 miles west of Garden
State Parkway exit 98.

drive from East Windsor hotels to
Storybook Land will take 90–105
minutes, while the drive from Storybook Land to Wildwood, New

on the EZpass electronic toll system. New Jersey toll highways and
crossings into neighboring states

admission tickets, will be provided to you at the event. All materials must be picked
up at scheduled registration times. If you are unable to arrive during a scheduled
time, it is your responsibility to contact ACE registration director Steve Smith

make alternate arrangements.
REGISTRATION Must be postmarked by May 28, 2015 or completed online by June 6,
2015. No registrations will be accepted after June 6, 2015. There will be no on-site
registration.
