were 11 years of dysfunction
× Spent $88 million taxpayer dollars
× 430 meetings

× Never made it past the planning phase
In 18 months, under Governor Cuomo,
the project moved from dysfunction to construction
 New plan fast-tracked: October 2011
 Design-build law signed: December 2011
 DEIS published: January 2012
 Project labor agreement reached: June 2012
 Bridge proposals submitted: July 2012
 FEIS approved: September 2012
 Mass Transit Task Force created: December 2012
 Notice to proceed issued: January 2013
 Permanent pile construction: October 2013
 $1.6B TIFIA loan signed: December 2013
THE NEW NY BRIDGE
 Best proposal price for toll payers: $3.142 billion
 Shortest construction time: 5 Years, 2.5 months

BOATER SAFETY INFORMATION
 Approximately
4 dozen TZC vessels are currently on the
Hudson River
 At
peak, 100 or more vessels could be in the active work
zone
 Crew
boats, tug boats, barge mounted cranes, barges, and
temporary fixed platforms are in the area of the existing
Tappan Zee Bridge, and may be moved at any time
 The
 U.S.
main channel remains open unless otherwise notified
Coast Guard Notice to Mariners Information is posted
at NewNYBridge.com
BOATER SAFETY INFORMATION
 U.S.
Coast Guard established a Regulated Navigation Area
(RNA) around the construction site
 The
RNA is being extended to an area 500 yards north and
500 yards south of the existing Tappan Zee Bridge
 RNA
allows Coast Guard to limit or prohibit marine traffic
in the area if necessary
 Mariners
 “Slow,
are advised to transit the main channel
No Wake Speed Zone” (5 knots)
 Enhanced
marine law enforcement patrols
