FROM ATLANTA
173 acres of the GIHP has been designated as
a nature preserve devoted to the preservation
and study of native plants and wildlife. Enjoy
walking the trails, canoeing, and watching
wildlife from the observation platform
overlooking the wetlands. Open year round
to the public from sunrise to sunset.

Cherokee Run Golf Club & Dining
Our destination golf course is nestled in the
rolling hills of Rockdale County and located
within the GIHP. Join us for breakfast and/or
lunch at Cherokee Run Golf Club 7 days a
week. Breakfast & Lunch: 8am - 6pm daily.
Sunday brunch from 11a.m.-2:30p.m.

grounds. Offering a 5-acre patch of woods
with walking trails. Posts and plaques are
dedicated to particular trees within the area

Haralson Mill Covered Bridge
This bridge is the first of its kind to
be built in Georgia since the 1890s.
This bridge is 150 feet long and 36 feet
wide. It’s truss is styled with decorative
lattice, and goes over Mill Rock Creek.
There’s a parking area, as well as a 1.75
mile scenic nature trail. Open to public.

In a park setting, the memorial park
provides a self-paced and self-guided
tour that is located on a 3 acre site
adjacent to Black Shoals Park & Lake
entrance. A botanical garden and
public restrooms are also on site.

Black Shoals Park &
Randy Poynter Lake
Located in North Rockdale and includes
areas for picnicking, hiking, and a 650 acre
reservoir. A great place for fishing, boating
(no gas motors allowed) and canoeing.
A fishing pier, bank fishing, a boat ramp
are available, as well as a pavilion.
