KTB Event Re-cap: The World [A]waits ...
Fall Retreat was comprised of so many wonderful things — insightful talks, quality small group
time, cute crafts, rockin’ praise and worship, DMC, and a bedtime story to top it all off!! Here’s
hoping that you had the opportunity to bond with your sisters doing real sister-y things … like
sharing bathroom space, snuggling up (to fend off the cold), and eating meals together! If you
weren’t able to join us this weekend, get to know your sisters by asking about their retreat
experience. Remember that you can also “see” snippets of Fall Retreat by searching
#stmarysktb on Facebook and Instagram. I’ll let Emily Goodrich-Gazda’s acronym summarize
the order in which we should LOVE:

L— Lord — “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all
your mind, and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30
O — Ourselves — One must first cultivate a healthy love for oneself, before one is able to love
others. One cannot give what one does not have.
V — V.I.P.s (Very Important People) — This category includes all of those people that are most
relevant to your current vocation in life (student). They can include: your immediate family,
your best friends, those you serve through KTB, etc.
E — Everyone — Like Brianna Santiago said in the second talk, we are not called to the love of
intimate friendship with everyone, as that would become exhausting, but we are called to love
everyone as a child of God.
Remember to pick up a Retreat Make-up Form, if you missed Fall Retreat, and contact Shelby
at [email protected] if you have any questions, comments, or concerns.

Sister Showcase:
Where sisters’ talents, gifts, and creativity SHINE BRIGHT!!!!!!!
Believe
By: Hannah Rose Franklin, Mu Class
I was taken down so deep
My soul became dark
And though I may still be standing I
'll always bear the scars
Every single day
I lived the painful fight
Begging amidst my fear
For your guiding light
Crying out
Screaming your name
The words in my memory engrained,
"For better and
For worse
Please stay here
To feel my hurt
Don't you turn away from me
I'm giving you my all
I take now and receive
I'm open to the call
Help me believe"
My story testifies
To grief and despair
But even amidst my brokenness
My heart said a prayer
In the beauty of song
You already answered my prayers
2,000 years past
You already saved my soul
With suffering unsurpassed
So how can we ask for more
Than what you already gave
How can we want salvation
When we've already been saved
There are things we won't understand
Answers we'll never receive
There are plans that won't go as
planned
And challenges unforeseen
There are paths we must trod
Filled with suffering
But as long as we have our God
We have all we need
Whatever might be the cost
Always believe

Please Don’t Stop the
Mu-Mu-Music
I asked the Mu Class to tell me their
favorite song, either “currently” or
“of-all-time,” so that we all could get
to know them better. I believe music
says a lot about people, and this
Spotify playlist of “Mu-sic” has
shown me that we have some pretty
rockin’ girls in this pledge class!!
Whoop! I am having Taylor attach a
link to the playlist, “Mu-Mu-Music,”
so that you all can listen (or SING!!)
along at your leisure! Make it your
study music, your workout jam, or
whatever you want!!I Here’s just a
taste of what you will find:

Below: “Tender Moment”
“The Truth” By: Jason Aldean
- Meredith Lippe

“Shake It Off” By: Taylor Swift
- Misha Lawrence and
Emily Hill
And you found me in my darkest time
You saw how weak I'd become
You whispered, "Love, your pain is
mine
And our tears are as one."

“Hasta Que Salga El Sol” By:
Don Omar
- Angelina Vasquez
You said, "Cry it out
Scream my name
We're united in this pain
For better
And for worse
I am here
To feel your hurt
Don't you turn away from me
I've given you my all
Take now and receive
Just open to my call
And believe"
I asked you to fix me
And answer all my prayers
To give me some kind of proof
That you were really there
Then suddenly I realized
The answer was there all along
In the earth beneath my feet

Sister Spotlight:
Ashley De La Garza
Favorite KTB memory/short story:
My favorite memory was last year’s spring
retreat. I was so glad to have time to bond
with my sisters and try so many new things
with them. It also allowed me to just take
time away from school work and make
room for time with God.
Tell us about your most prized possession:
My most prized possession is my grandmother’s gold bracelet. She has been sick
for the past few months and has allowed
me to keep it as a memory of her. I hardly
wear it, due to the fear of losing it, but I
have it near my nightstand where it is always in hands’ reach.
Tell us about the person you look up to
most:
My mom is the person I look up to the most.
She has struggled so much to support my
sister and I, and for that I will be forever
grateful. She helped me establish my faith
and was there when I needed a shoulder to
cry on. Without her, I would have never
pushed myself to reach for my dreams.
Your plans/dreams/hopes for the future:
In the future, I hope to go to law school and
become an Assistant District Attorney. After
pursuing this career for a while, I hope to
get a position with the FBI. I know those are
some crazy dreams, but with the Lord on
my side, my wonderful KTB sisters, and my
family here to support and pray for me, I
know it will be possible!
Keep up the AMAZING work, Ashley!!

Rosary Basics
Want to contribute??

There are twenty mysteries reflected upon in the Rosary, and these are
divided into the five JOYFUL MYSTERIES, the five LUMINOUS MYSTERIES,
the five SORROWFUL MYSTERIES, and the five GLORIOUS MYSTERIES.

As suggested by the Pope St. John Paul the Great, the Joyful mysteries are
said on Monday and Saturday, the Luminous on Thursday, the Sorrowful on
Tuesday and Friday, and the Glorious on Wednesday and Sunday (with this
exception: Sundays of Christmas season - The Joyful; Sundays of Lent - Sorrowful).
