Deputy Principal`s Report - Holland Park State School
Deputy Principal’s Report
Dear Parents and Carers
CONGRATULATIONS LEVI
Congratulations to our Year 6 student, Levi Miller who has been cast as Peter Pan alongside Hugh Jackman, Rooney
Mara and Garrett Hedlund in Warner Bros. movie ‘Pan’. The film is set during World War 2 and follows the original tale
of Peter Pan after he realizes he must save Neverland from the pirate Captain Blackbeard. Levi will be working on the
movie set in London for most of this year. We wish him well in this exciting and wonderful opportunity.
Levi had been elected as Year 6 School Vice-Captain earlier in the year. He has been replaced in this role by Jared
Hughes who also poled very well in the student and staff voting and was part of the interview process already
conducted. Congratulations to Jared who will carry out this role with the other Year 6 captains pictured below.

CRAZY HAIR DAY: SHAVE FOR A CURE
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Crazy Hair Day last
Thursday. Your support contributed to the annual ‘Shave for a
Cure’. $870 was raised. Apart from the crazy hair designs and
colours that dotted the heads of our children we had one father
who had his head shaved at the junior assembly.
Scott, a parent at our school, lost his locks as his wife, Karen,
willingly cut his hair. Almost a year ago their youngest daughter
was diagnosed with leukaemia; Marley is still undergoing treatment
and her condition is improving. They are very grateful for
everyone’s support and involvement in this wonderful cause last
week, and all the best wishes extended to them and their little girl.
Thank you to everyone.

SAFE USE OF DROP OFF / PICK UP ZONES / BUS STOPS
This is a reminder to all parents at drop off and pick up time around
the school. We are becoming very concerned for the safety of our
students when parents do not obey the road rules.
• Do not park in the bus stop in Wilbur Street.
• Use the drop off / pick up zones safely.
• Do not double park or park on yellow lines.
• Be courteous to other drivers of our school community.
BICYCLE SAFETY
Students who ride bikes to school need to adopt safe practices
when using the road. A number of near accidents have been
observed in recent days. Please remind your children to look both
ways when riding across an intersection and to stay either on the
footpath or close to the left side of the road.
NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION AGAINST BULLYING &
VIOLENCE is being
5 STEPS TO SOLVE A PROBLEM
recognised this Friday,
March 21, by our school
community. Students are
reminded to wear
something ORANGE with
their uniform. This could be
a shirt or shorts or scarf or
wrist band. Students will
receive an orange badge
from their class teacher
reminding them of the steps
to take against bullying.
