Megève’s two exceptional ski areas, the Evasion MontBlanc and the Portes de Mont-Blanc, offer 400km of ski slopes in
a magnificent panorama for the delight of those addicted to winter sports.
Combining the gentle, sunny slopes of the Jaillet side with the more technical
of the Cote 2000, the skiing on offer is much appreciated by enthusiasts of
wide-open spaces and unforgettable altitude differences. The Evasion Mont-Blanc ski area is now
also linked to the trans-border Mont-Blanc Unlimited ski pass.
Megève, an organiser and host of significant sports events, will once more welcome the elite of Freestyle skiing
during the Audi FIS Ski Cross World Cup in January 2017, which promises to be an exceptional show.
Finally, the sporting spirit will resonate this winter. A new flamboyant ultra-modern structure
of 10 000m2 will be dedicated to well being and high-tech sports activity.
Not forgetting the organisation of a number of large-scale international events, such as
the dog and sleigh race, the Grand Odyssey Savoie Mont-Blanc, the Polo Masters
or the 2nd edition of the International Jazz Festival in Megève, featuring some of
the greatest names on the international scene.
Megève is also an authentic spirit with an undeniable attachment to
culture, gastronomy and the art of living, which reinforce its
reputation and prestigious image season after season.
Megève is the guarantee of
unforgettable moments in
a magical, fairy tale
ambiance.

"One evening in 1930 Émile, with his uncle Hilaire
Morand, turned up at my father’s workshop asking
him to find a solution so that his trousers wouldn’t slow him
down anymore when skiing downhill. After working through the night,
the following day Armand came up with a pair of trousers with the
bottom tucked into the shoe and held in place under the foot.
The “fuseau” was born!"

ÉMILE ALLAIS
BECOMES A LEGENDARY
FIGURE IN WORLD SKIING
In February 1937, Megèvan Émile Allais (1912 – 2012)
won three gold medals (downhill, slalom and combined)
at the World Alpine Skiing Championships in Chamonix,
thus becoming the first Frenchman to win
a World skiing title. Thanks to this victory the
“fuseau de Megève” (skiing trousers)
worn by the champion during
this competition became
very popular.

COMPOSITION
OF “MY WAY” IN MEGÈVE
PIERRE MARGARA
40 YEARS IN MEGÈVE
FROM 10TH DECEMBER TO 10TH MARCH 2017
The famous sculptor, Megèvan at heart and notably at the origin
of the giant statue that has the pride of place in the village of Megève “
Once upon a time, My Way”, a tribute to his friend Jacques Revaux, is present
on all fronts: creation, exhibition, and edition. In great demand, both
in France and abroad, Pierre Margara always keeps a special
place in his heart for his beloved village, of which he is
one of the most loyal ambassadors. This winter,
to celebrate 40 years of presence in Megève
and his 70th birthday, the artist presents
a retrospective of his work with
nearly 40 works carefully
selected by him.

Unprecedented
In the winter of 1967 Jacques Revaux composed
“For me”, a song which was to be re-titled “Comme d’habitude”
(as usual) by Claude François, then “My Way”,
by the American crooner Paul Anka. Today
we can count over a thousand versions
of this worldwide hit, which has
been performed by Frank
Sinatra, Elvis Presley
and even Nina
Simone.

I feel good in the mountains. Alone, I recharge and get
fresh ideas. It is an intimate relationship. To include
produce on the menu which comes from
the countryside that urrounds and
inspires me goes without
saying.”
