IMAGE BEAUTY AWARDS
All rise ...
... for the winners of the seventh annual
IMAGE Beauty Awards.
Welcome to the 2010 IMAGE Beauty Awards, our
essential round-up of the ultimate product launches of the
last twelve months. This year, we’ve smudged, spritzed
and smoothed our hearts out and have revamped the
judging format to deliver the most credible and honest
beauty awards on the Irish market.
Of the record-breaking 500 products entered this
year, each was rigorously tested by our panel of specialist
judges, whose fields of expertise spanned dermatology,
beauty therapy, make-up artistry and session styling.
After weeks of product vetting, the judges then gathered
in the gracious surrounds of Dublin’s Merrion Hotel to debate and deliberate over
the pros and cons of each entry.
The fate of each product, however, ultimately rested upon the average scores
awarded by each judging panel. Within these pages you will find the highest-scoring
products – from wrinkle-busting face creams to miracle-working mascaras, hair
heroes to thigh-slimmers – which we believe live up to their claims and are worthy
of the IMAGE seal of approval, and moreover, a place on your bathroom shelf.
Best of all, one lucky reader will win every product featured in this special
Beauty Awards supplement, worth more than €3,000. See page 116 for details. Even
if you don’t win, this guide will be a handy beauty advisor, helping you make swift,
informed and foolproof purchases. Stay gorgeous.

HOW THE PRODUCTS WERE JUDGED
• Hands & nails........................................ 110
ALL BEAUTY PRODUCTS entered this year were divided into four
ca
categories:
skincare, make-up, body care and hair care. An independent
ex
expert
judging panel was allocated to each category and the judges
had over a month to road test each product entered. They filled out a
de
detailed form per entry and scored each product based on criteria that
in
included
value for money, product performance, texture, packaging,
sc
scent,
durability and colour pay-off. From these forms, we calculated
f
an average score from
100 per cent. So you can rest assured that the IMAGE Beauty Awards
are 100 per cent independently scored, that no one could lobby a slot and that each product
won based entirely on its own merits.
