The sun is rising, the sun sets and the moon is rising.
The stream flows, white clouds float in the sky and
the stars are blinking.
The sun is rising, waking up the roadside grass and
wild flowers.
The sun is rising, the flowers in front of the window
is climbing up the bamboo trellis.
The sun is rising, the moon is rising.
Frog starts to sing and the swallows fly into the sky.
Butterflies flutter in the flower bed, and the lambs
run out.
A group of babies cry, “Yah,” and laugh, “Ha, ha,” on
the farm.
Hotaru Koi (Japan)
Ho, ho, ho, firefly,
Come, there’s some water that’s bitter to taste,
Come, here’s some water that’s sweet to your taste:
up this mountain path.
Firefly’s daddy struck it rich, so he’s got lots of
dough,
No wonder that his rear end sparkles in the dark.
In the daytime hiding
among the dewy blades of grass,
But when it’s night, his lantern burns bright.
Even though we’ve flown all the way from India,
Zoom! And those sparrows swarm to swallow us.
Consonare and Colla Voce have been
hired to entertain as the headline guest
for the International Conference of
Delta Kappa Gamma in Spokane this
summer. They will perform in the INB
Performing Arts Center on Tuesday,
July 20,
20 about 9:00 PM. Singers will depart Monday,
July 19 and return Wednesday, July 21. Most costs
have been covered by DKG, so each singer will only
need to pay $80 (less if more singers participate) for
the three days, including meals and most activities.
The Ramada has a water park attached, and the
Riverfront Park has carnival rides, IMAX, and other
activities available. There will be plenty of time for
fun! Plan on an extended rehearsal for each group on
Saturday, July 10, and possibly another evening
rehearsal the following week, if necessary. We will
need firm commitments from participants
immediately, as we begin preparing the music in
April.
Il est bel et bon
He is good and so, so, handsome, is my love.
Two young women gossiping as women do,
One was saying, “Is your husband good to you?
He is good and so, so, handsome, is my love.
He is never angry, always sweet and kind.
And he does the housework, also feeds the chickens.
And I take life easy!
Oh, I can’t keep from laughing when chickens are
cackling,
For me, just coquetting, do you see?
He is good and so, so, handsome, is my love.
