Incentives
The Calhoun County Economic Development Council (EDC) has numerous financial incentive programs
available to industries. Each program has its own requirements for eligibility and term limits. Because no two
projects are alike, the EDC is able to tailor a specific incentive proposal to fit your precise needs. For more

Alabama Industrial Development Training
Program (AIDT)
AIDT is specifically designed for new and
expanding businesses in Alabama to train workers
to meet upgraded job requirements as a result of
new technologies or capital investments.
Corporate Income Tax
Permits companies to utilize an annual
corporate income tax credit to assist in
offsetting capital investments.
Ad Valorem Tax Abatement
Allows the abatement of the non-educational
portion of a company’s real and personal ad
valorem taxes.
Jobs Tax Credit
Potential tax and investment credit for
qualifying business projects that create new
jobs.
Sales Tax Abatement
The abatement can be used on the purchase of
construction materials.
Use Tax Abatement
Abatement is available for the purchase of
manufacturing or production equipment.
Industrial Access Road Grant
Grant can be used for the development of road
infrastructure for new and expanding industrial
projects.
AL State Site Preparation Grant
Grant program may be utilized by new and
expanding companies to offset the costs of
development.

Calhoun County has numerous industrial parks that

you would like to be located along the I-20 corridor
with easy access to both Birmingham and Atlanta or
to have your industry located closer to the heart of one
of our more populous areas, we have the assets in our
industrial parks that are the most ideal for your next

Port access for water transport is closest at
Mobile, Alabama which is approximately 289
miles from Anniston, Alabama. Mobile is the
12th largest port in the U.S. by volume with 54.9
million tons of cargo moving in and out of its
terminals in 2012.
Calhoun County is uniquely situated to offer
unsurpassed transportation advantages for companies
shipping or receiving their product by rail, truck, or air
cargo. The county is located directly on Interstate 20,
Highway 431, Highway 78, and Highway 21 for easy
ground transportation. The area is also served by 12
motor freight carriers. Norfolk Southern Corporation
(a Class I Railroad) provides mainline service and
provides inbound and outbound rail transportation to
approximately 50% of the United States.
Anniston, Alabama has its own airport with a
7,000 foot lighted runway and provides easy
access to both Birmingham-Shuttlesworth
International Airport (60 miles) and Atlanta
Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (90 miles).

Calhoun County is the most populous and progressive county in East Alabama.
Located in the Anniston-Oxford-Jacksonville MSA, the high population in Calhoun
County makes the community one of the most populated counties in the state. The
county is located sixty miles east of Birmingham, Alabama, and ninety miles west
of Atlanta, Georgia on I-20. Calhoun County has more than 150 companies in its
