Hit Counter
HRC parts (Do i need them, do I Have Them?)
After the first few hours days or months you may
decided that your RVF could do with that little bit
extra. Be it the need for more speed ,handling or to
just stand out from the crowd there is a wealth of
aftermarket parts out there.
Bodywork
Because of its age a lot of the more exotic Japanese
parts are no longer in production. This can cause
problems repairing damaged imports with endurance
styled fairings as replacing these parts is imposable.
In the UK we are blessed with a large number of
these machines still being imported both for race
and street use. Being a handy track tool replacement
fairings and seat units are easy to find. Please
remember that these parts are made for hard up for
cash private teams and quality is sometimes less
important than price. If you can do see the parts
before buying. The fairings seem mostly to be made
out of 3 parts instead of 6 as you would find on a
standard RVF. this is not a bad thing it just means
that they don't make pattern part copies of original
panels just fairing that look like originals parts. some
of the company's will offer fairings for road use with
headlamp holes already cut out. Also most of
company's can supply single seat conversions.
There are two types here a pillion seat conversion
and full replacement. For general road use the
pillion seat conversion would be the one to go for as
this still allows access to fuse box, tools, rear light
bulbs and the small amount of room to keep your
sandwiches. the full replacement do look better also
you hardly see the fibreglass so it looks more
"factory made". A few of the road spec single seats I
have seen make you use that small piece of plastic
that sits between the rear lights. Do check it could
look better to use a race unit and cut out the holes
for the rear lights, or fit different lights (LED?). Also
check if you need or want to use the original seat
again some do some don't.
Wheels
These are still available Dymag still list them 3 spoke
or the more stock looking 5 spoke choice of rim
sizes up to you. Not cheap but quality like this never
is. may have extra work on your hands if going for a
wider rim, the 150 section tyre fitted as standard is
only a"Nats winky" away from the chain and I have
heard that 160 section tyres from some company's
hit the chain.
Exhaust
This subject deserves it's own site !.Endless
possibilities here all down to cost . At sometime most
exhaust manufactures you have heard of have a
endcan and possible full or 3/4 system for the
NC30/35. Best ones are the Japan home market
systems these are sometime still on the machine
when imported. these are nearly always full systems
ranging from replacement 4-1 or 4-2 twin cans.
these systems are still available to buy new. It is
always a good idea to be sat down when receiving
quotes for Japanese tuning components. A TSR twin
can system will set you back about £1200. A lot of
UK company's still produce endcans for the NC's
prices start at £100.
