O
n February 6, we began the Spring Semester with new Interns at
the Christian Women’s Job Corps. A new semester is always exciting as we begin to see the great potential in each woman and watch as
God opens their eyes to their own worth in Him.
One of the words that I would use to describe this group is HUNGRY.
These women are hungry for change, truth, peace and a new life. Many
have endured unspeakable circumstances and have huge obstacles to
overcome, and yet they are determined to move forward. This type of hunger is a delight
to watch because I know it will be fed. Hunger is what keeps us focused and in relationship with the only One who can fill us. As they are introduced to Him, their hope comes
alive and they simply want more. Each truth they learn serves to ignite more hunger as
they dig deeper and allow His love to feed their hearts.

Another word to describe this group is TRANSPARENT. They are very honest with where they have been, and eager to discover where they can go. Our Women @ Work class is uncovering the layers of abilities in the Interns and plotting a course
of possibilities for their employment. As their personalities and talents are discovered, excuses are put at rest, and they
begin to see a good future within their grasp. The Computer class is refining skills needed for employment and depositing
“yes, I can” thoughts to replace the negatives. The women are equally transparent in the Healthy Relationship and Personal
Discovery classes as they learn their past does not define them or dictate their future. The Applied Ethics classes challenge
the Interns to conduct their lives with honesty in the business world as well as in their private lives. The Interns are eager
to learn, and their transparency is refreshing. I believe God can work with transparent and honest people. After all, He
promises that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be filled.
Joy is a product of living a hungry and transparent life, and joy is beginning to bloom in the Spring 2013 Interns of the
Christian Women’s Job Corps. As they learn to worship Him in spite of pain, they bring Him joy. When they hunger for Him
regardless of their past and trust Him with transparent hearts, they bring Him joy. Rick Joyner in his book, The Call, makes
this statement: “Do not waste your trials. Worship the Father – not for what you will get, but to bring Him joy. You will
never be stronger than when you bring Him joy, for the Joy of the Lord is your strength.” The Spring 2013 CWJC Interns are
on the road to becoming amazingly strong women, because they are bringing great joy to the Lord.
Only God can cause such transformation. I know that I, the CWJC Board, and the numerous volunteers stand awed by what
God is doing. As these women change, they will in turn change future generations, giving hope where once there was none.

All the classes are different in some way, so we can usually say, “Wow! This is a really great class!” It’s no different this
time. This spring, we have the joy and privilege of getting to know:

Lauren Hammit
T
his year, CWJC has again been blessed to receive a Cailloux Grant that allows us to
hire an Intern to serve as our First Impressions person. Lauren Hammit is our pick for
2013! Lauren graduated from CWJC in the Fall of 2012, and has proven to be a shining
light at the front desk. Her energy, enthusiasm, humor (check out the graduation photo on
page 1), and love of all things Clorox have made CWJC a most enjoyable experience for everyone
coming through the front doors.
Born in Minnesota, Lauren moved to Texas at age two years old. She has been married for nine years to, as she says, the
most loving and supportive man on the planet. Lauren and her husband, Maurice Hammit, Jr., have three children: Landon,
age 9; Kaeson, age 4; and Paxton, age 3.
Lauren isn’t the same person she was when she first began the CWJC program. She admits to having been “clueless” at first
regarding what she wanted to do with her life. Going through the program at CWJC, she says, moved her from being
“nothing” to having a reason for being here. She has always enjoyed helping people, but how? In what capacity? She didn’t
know. But she now knows that she wants to be involved in ministering to other women, helping them to obtain release from
whatever bondage they are enduring. She’s in just the right place to be able to do just that.

Are You Ready?
CWJC’s Annual Spring Style Show Is Coming Soon!
Mark your calendar for Thursday, April 25, from 12:00 to
1:30 PM when the 13 ladies of the class of Spring 2013 will
present to you the Leading Ladies Style Show at the YO
Resort and Conference Center.
If you’ve never been to one of our style shows, these photos
will give you a pretty good idea of what to expect — Job
Corps interns displaying not only the newest fashions, but
also their heightened or newly found self-confidence and
poise.
Tickets may be purchased at CWJC, located at 1140 Broadway in Kerrville. Office hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM,
Monday through Friday.
Individual tickets are $35 each, or you may purchase a
whole table (seats 10) for $350, or a half table for $175.
Cost covers the delicious lunch provided by the YO staff.
This is a great way to help support CWJC and to introduce us
to your friends and colleagues, so please plan to come!
