Tae Kwon Do is a great way to get in shape,
reduce stress and learn valuable life skills. We
have been serving the Interlake region for over
20 years through schools in Selkirk, East Selkirk,
Beausejour, Anola and Tyndall. When you join
you get access to all of these clubs and
different instructions included in your fee.Tae
Kwon Do like all martial arts will help improve
your strength, balance, endurance and flexibility.
In addition, you will learn practical ways
to defend yourself and in doing so increase
your self-confidence. Our clubs specialize in
working with children and young adults and allow
students to progress at their own pace. Classes
are designed for the entire family to attend and
this is a great way to strengthen bonds with
family or friends. For those more serious
students who are interested there are also
opportunities to compete in tournaments (semicontact) across Manitoba and beyond. Classes
run September through June. Yearly membership
is $400 ($40 per month) which includes access
to all 5 clubs. We offer significant discounts for
multiple studens from the same family. To try out
a couple classes for free or for more information

Baha’is recognize the impact that worship has on
individual and social growth and organize regular
devotional gatherings that allow followers of all
religions to come together for worship. Children’s
classes are non-sectarian and provide spiritual
and moral education, stories and friendship,
games and art activities to develop the child’s
capacities and interests. Children are introduced
to moral principles and the lives of humanity’s
foremost spiritual teachers - Krishna, Zoroaster,
Moses, Christ, Muhammad, Buddha, the Bab and
Baha’u’llah. Classes awaken an understanding
and love of universal spiritual principles and moral
teachings which uplift humanity. Classes aspire
to impart in children a love of humanity, in all its
diversity, and a love of knowledge, both material
and spiritual. Adults and youth study circles
involve discussions and practical exercises to study
spiritual and moral principles that can be directly
applied to improving and transforming lives and
expanding commitment to personal and community
change. Based on Baha’i principles and universal
moral values, study circles aim to improve our lives
and make the world a better place.

Community Living Selkirk's SKILLS DIVISION has
grown into it's own program over the last 5 years.
This program is geared towards adults living with an
intellectual disability that want to develop the skills
to find gainful employment or meaningful volunteer
work. This is accomplished by providing education,
job preparation skills and practical job experience.
People that choose this program perform various
contracts within the community such as flyer delivery,
grass cutting, home cleaning and snow removal as
well as other contracts that we can obtain. We also work
with other community organizations to find volunteer
work that will teach a specific skill such as the hospital
gift shop which assists people in giving back to the
community while learning customer service skills for
their desired job. Our program will work with employers
to accomplish specific tasks on an as needed basis
or to assist in filling vacant positions and providing on
the job training, job shadowing and ongoing follow
up to address the need of finding long term employees.
Does your business have odd jobs that never get
done - our contract crew or job carving support may
be the answer.

offer support to parents in their homes. This voluntary
program, sponsored by Healthy Child Manitoba and
Interlake Regional Health Authority, is offered to
families for additional support as they raise their
young children. Families can connect with this program
from the prenatal period up until a child is four years

home visitors are someone parents can count on, who
will listen, offer encouragement and practical support.
They can help develop daily routines around mealtimes, bath and bed times and suggest ways to handle
key events in the family’s life. They help parents insure a
safe home for their children, provide info on growth
and development and bring ideas and activities for
families from the Growing Great Kids and the Small
Steps-Big Futures Programs. They can help families
connect with other services and resources in their
community and help parents develop confidence

The Selkirk & District Community Foundation creates
different ways for people to give back to their
community, connects donors with community wishes
and dreams and provides grants that touch a lot of
people. This work means the Foundation is able to see
how donors and recipients fit together for years to come
so that the Foundation is “Here for Good”. Selkirk &
District Community Foundation is a nonprofit charitable
organization incorporated in 1995 for the purpose
of establishing permanent endowment funds, and
distributing its income for the benefit of Selkirk, the
R.M. of St. Andrews and the R.M. of St. Clements. The
Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the community’s
quality of life through grant programs that provide
funds to a wide variety of charitable organizations.
These groups come from many different sectors,
social services, arts, culture, family and community
services, health, environment, education, heritage
and scholarships. The Foundation is funded by many
donors. These gifts are then invested in a capital
fund and only the income is used for granting. The
Community Grant Program application deadlines are:
September 30th and February 28th.
