1. FIT / GEOMETRY & SIZING
The three smallest frame sizes use a specific fork,
with a 53mm rake.
After analyzing our historical fit data, we have concluded that we could improve the fit for our smallest
riders.
We created the 47 and 49cm frames to replace the
previous 48cm size. And since the new Orca follows a
linear size progression, with regards to stack and reach,
the 47cm bike indeed offers the smallest fit, with each
subsequent size getting larger in a logical and predictable fashion.

1. FIT / MONOLINK
Wide range of adjustment - a total of four degrees of
fore and aft adjustment from the base 73° seat tube
angle.
This makes the total effective range from 71º to 75º.
Each Monolink equipped Orbea Orca comes with a
dual-rail adapter set for the seatpost.

2. aerodynamics / aizone
We developed a new Orca fork with a 1:3 aspect ratio, similar
to the fork on our record setting Ordu.
The new Orca can save you up to 10 watts over the older bike
at 10º yaw.
7 % more aerodynamic than our old Orca fork without losing
any stiffness or steering precision.
We’ve routed all the cables internally to reduce drag.
Higher speeds with less energy.
Orca is faster and more stable.

The Orbea Avant frame is offered in OMP
Orbea Monocoque Performance carbon
Fiber.
A bike frame structure made as one seamless unit,
with continuous fibers that run through the tube

Press fit
Press Fit Bottom Bracket
We have chosen the Press Fit bottom bracket system for our newest high-end road bicycles.
Press Fit provides a new standard for stiffness and
light weight.
The bottom bracket shell allows us to optimize the
intersection of the down tubes and bottom bracket
shell. This increases pedaling stiffness and, ultimately, allows for a more efficient transfer of your
energy to the rear wheel.

Internal cable routing
The Internal cable routing of the new Orbea Avant is
designed to provide efficient and direct pathways to
the rear brake and derailleurs. This enclosed system
will protect performance and reduce maintenance by shielding the cables from the grit and grime
from the road. The completely internal system also
offers a small aerodynamic advantage to go along
with a cleaner look.
Perhaps the most unique aspect of our internal
routing system is that we’ve designed it to be compatible for both electronic and mechanical (EC/DC)
shifting systems. Now, you can use whichever system you prefer, and the Avant will allow simple and
easy installation.

2. CONSTRUCTION /
Tapered headtube
Like our Orca road bikes, the Avant is designed
with performance in mind. And to offer the best
steering precision and control, we build the Avant
with a tapered headtube.
This allows us to increase the diameter of the lower
bearing, and likewise the steerer tube diameter. The
result is a stiffer, stronger fork with no appreciable
weight gain. This is an integral part of what gives
the Avant its confidence inspiring stability at speed
through corners, even across lumpy pavement.

3. VERSATILITY /
Caliper or disc brakes
The Avant is unique in that it is fully compatible
with traditional caliper rim brakes as well as disc
brakes. The advantage for the user is the choice.
Products will be offered with both options, and the
ability to make a swap from one brake style to the
other is easy and simple.
The frame is designed so that mounting hardware
for the disc brakes is removable, leaving nothing
but discreet, threaded bosses, with nothing to detract from the visual aesthetic of the bike.

3. VERSATILITY /
Dropout spacing
With disc brakes in mind, we’ve designed the Avant
to be compatible with 135mm and 130mm hub
widths.
The reason for this is simple - as the road disc standard develops, we wanted the bike to be compatible with any wheelset you might choose.
The conversion is a simple affair and consists of
removable dropout chips to effect the change in
width.

3. VERSATILITY /
mechanical or electronic shifting
The choice between mechanical and electronic shifting has become more blurred as electronic options
come down in cost. The Avant is built with both in
mind.
The internal routing system is compatible with traditional cables or the more modern, electronic wiring
systems. The Avant is available as a Di2 complete
bike, and this product also includes a hidden, seatpost-mounted battery.

Discreet fender, rack and brake mounts
The Avant is a bike that can “take you there”. This
is the undercurrent for its development. From mechanical to electronic, from caliper to disc, from
one wheel to the next, these sorts of technical journeys are part of what this bike is about. It’s also
about journeys on the roads - all sorts of roads.
We are proud of the versatility of the Avant, in
that no matter where you choose to ride, this bike
can be outfitted properly. It can be outfitted with
fenders and racks if you choose, but the discreet
mounting bosses won’t attract attention at the road
race on Sunday if not.

3. VERSATILITY /
Tires up to 28mm
Towards that adventurous spirit of the Avant,
it is quite capable of accepting a 28mm tire front and back. We’ve worked with this goal
in mind, as the popularity of gravel road riding and racing has blossomed.
The advantage with the larger tires is, of
course, reduced chance for punctures. But
the larger tires also significantly increase
comfort for long days in the saddle.
Both the rim brake and disc brake options
are compatible with 28mm tires.
