The Department of Production Engineering organized the event WAVE-INDIA expedition on
11 Dec.2011, the exhibition of battery operated vehicles. Mr. A S Vaidya coordinated the event
with the help of student coordinators Akshay Joshi and Kedar Dandi. The students of KIT and
the nearby institutes attended the presentation and demonstration of the vehicles.

Art of Writing Research Paper:
A one day Workshop on “Art of Writing Research Paper”, was arranged at the department for the
faculty of the institute on 2nd January 2012. Dr. V V Khanzode, Dr. M M Mujumdar, Mr. S G
Bhatwadekar, Mr. V V Kulkarni, and Mr. A B Ayare offered the guidelines in selecting the research
topics, reviewing the literature and data analysis and preparing the research papers. Mr. A K Madhale

A One Day Workshop on “Research Opportunities in Manufacturing”, was arranged on 22nd
January 2012 for the departmental faculty. Dr. M L Kulkarni, Principal, College of Engineering,
Pandharpur, was the resource person. Hon. Sajid Hudli, Secretary, Hon. D C Joshi, Hon. Bharat Patil
graced the inaugural function. The research opportunities with existing equipment and software available
with the department were discussed and different areas were identified for the future research. Mr. P P
Powar coordinated the program. All faculty members of the department and the PG students participated

Production Engineering Department had organized a One day workshop on,Curriculum Structure
Revision of B.E.(Production Engg.)Program was scheduled on 23rd Jan. 2013.
Faculties from K.B.P.College of Engineering, Satara , D.Y.Patil College of Engineering,
Kolhapur,Dr. Sawant Dean Engineering along with Production and Mechanical Engg. Faculty members

“One Day Workshop on Development of Measurement and Instrumentation Laboratory”, was
organized by Department of Production Engineering on Tuesday, 15th Jan 2013 at KITCOEK.
As a subject expert Prof. B. D. Kelkar gives valuable inputs. The faculty members of Departments of
Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electronics Engineering were participated.
The very purpose of the program is to develop the experiments at measurement laboratory both at UG
and PG level; Restructure the experiments in measurement lab to suit the requirements of the industrial
applications.; Addition of advanced experiments and equipment at the PG level and to spread the
awareness of measurement techniques of field variables required for PG Dissertation work, among the
faculty.

Engg. and Environmental Engg. attended the lecture . The speaker elaborated on the renewable energy
sources and the economic and environmental benefits of Ethanol as a fuel of future.

• A marketing event where participants had to prepare marketing and publicity strategies for the
product given to them and present the marketing strategies on the stage in front of the audience.
• The audience had to cross question the participants depending on the marketing strategy.
• The moto of the event was to test the marketing skills, communication, convincing skills of the
participants and also to see how they tackle the cross questions.
• Prize: for Winner:
Rs.2000/- and Runner-up: Rs.1000/3D modeling:
• To make a 3D model of the given machine component on CATIA CAD/CAM software.
• Total 3 rounds were conducted with increasing difficulty level. 40 participants from various
colleges participated in this event.

3D Modeling: Here 3D CAD Model has to be created by using CATIA software in definite period.
Mock up: Here with given material group has to create a structure that sustains a heavy load.
Charcha: An open minded group discussion competition.
Junkyard: Here with given junk material group has to create a object which has motion and creativeness in it.

As we all know the recent era is all about maximum production and with the highest quality. We
must use robotics to achieve the same. Hence K.I.T.'S College of Engineering take initiative to impart State of
Art robotics knowledge to their students. To step toward it K.I.T.'S College of Engineering form the NOVUS –
The Robotics Club of K.I.T. The purpose behind this club is to give hands on training to students and to
aware them with recent technology in robotics field.
K.I.T.'S College of Engineering in association with ROBOTech Labs, Delhi and IIT Bombay has
taken Two Days Workshop on Sixth Sense Robotics using Microcontrollers on 23-24 Aug. 2014.In first
initiative itself we got huge response from the students of KIT as well as nearby colleges. Around 145
students participate and taken this as an opportunity to enhance their robotics knowledge.
The experts ROBOTech Labs has taken the workshop which includes fundamentals of robotics
followed by hands on session on robotic kit provided by them.
Following points were discussed in the workshop.

1. Introduction to Computer vision:
The journey in to vision robotics will start from basic discussion on vision sensors and different
cameras available. We will explore the application of vision in robotics and mechatronic systems.
2. Digital Image Processing in Matlab: Basics of Matlab and the Image Acquisition and Image Processing
toolboxes.
3. Image Acquisition and Processing: Data structure of image acquired. The understanding for Pixels, color
spaces,vector indexing and matrix indexing.
4. Image Manipulation in Matlab: Adjusting image intensity, Image histogram equalization, Using arithmetic
functions to enhance images,Thresholding, Edge Detection, Template matching, Distinguishing colors,Shape
Detection, frequency domain filtering and convolution.
5. Video acquisition and Manipulation: Using the video to process it and use it for Robot Control.

for Engineers in Public Services”
On the occasion of Engineers day on 15th Sept. 2011 from 2.30-4.15pm,Department of Production
Engineering under PESA organized guest lecture and seminar on “Career Opportunities for Engineers
in Public Services” by Mr. Gopal Patil (Sales Tax Inspector, Kolhapur) . Total 80 number of students
attended the seminar. The objective of programme is to motivate students towards dynamic career in
Public Services on the occasion of Engineers day. A informative and motivational slide show on the Sir M.
V. Visheshwaraya created and presented by student in the event. Mr. Gopal Patil discussed the information
and opportunities in UPSC/MPSC for engineering students and also shares their own experience with
students. In the open session Mr. Patil Sir directly interact with the students and try to satisfy their query’s
regarding competitive exams. Prof. V. V. Kulkarni were also expressed their thoughts with students. Mr. A

Under TEXPLORE 2011, Department of Production Engineering under PESA organized CHARCHA-
11……..that’s my point, a Group Discussion Competition on 26th Sept.2011. Total 17 No. of team participated
and Total 93 no of students participated the event. Prof.S.G.Kulkarni(Hon.HSC Board Member, Maha. Govt.)
and Mrs.Sneha Pai (Director, Finess Academy) worked as external judge. The objective of programme is
To provide a platform to students to present their opinion regarding different subjects effectively in a group
and also learn how to work in a team. All departmental students participated in the competition.Total no. of
17 classes participated in the competition and 14 internal and 2 external judges examined the
competition.Total competition divided into 3 round. After 3rd round 10 students are selected for Final
round .Sponsorship was given by Finesses Academy. Prizes are awarded by Mrs.Sneha Pai.Madam also give
some guidance to participant regarding betterment of their performance.

Under TEXPLORE 2011, Department of Production Engineering under PESA organized
JUNKYARD’11….Best from Waste a creativity Competition on 2nd oct.2011. Total 38 No. of team participated
and Total 76 no of students participated the event. Mr.Mandar M.Kulkarni of Kalakruti Engineers,Kolhapur
and Mr.Sarang Kulkarni (TCS,Mumbai) worked as external judge. The objective of programme is To
provide a platform to student through which they can use their practical knowledge to create a engineering
model using waste material. All departmental students participated in the competition. All departmental
students participated in this competition.Total no. of 38 teams are participated in the competition and
work was examined by 2 external judges.Total competition divided into 2 round. Prizes are awarded by
Dr.V.M.Mohitkar in the valedictory function of PIONEER 2K11.

After inauguration First session was conducted by Dr. U. A. Dabade on” Micro machining and
WEDM”,
Second session was on “Reverse Engineering “by Mr. Nilesh Kavade.
On Day Two we have a interactive session by Dr. J.S.Bagi on “Quality Management Systems”
