Farewell
Dear Friends of St. Andrew’s
From the office of the Headmaster, I’ve looked out over one of the
most beautiful schools in the country during my fulfilling tenure serving
St. Andrew’s School. Quiet, park like, green, the campus speaks to
what we have done together over the last 19 years, a place I have
called home.
As I reflect a final time on how far we have come, I also think about the
incredible opportunity that will present itself for the new Headmaster,
David Tinagero.
Together we have increased the endowment by almost seven times
to close to $21,000,000; we have increased the student body by 90%
and the boarding population by 200%; we have built and renovated
more than $28,0000,000 worth of buildings; we have attracted a terrific
faculty and staff dedicated to St. Andrew’s future; we have created an
Arts program that offer more opportunities than most schools twice our
size, we have rejuvenated the Athletic program having achieved league
and New England Championships; we have increased the geography
and spectrum of our college acceptances; and we have created a diverse
and wonderful atmosphere to learn.
There is no question that the school is positioned for success in the
future. However, I do want to say that the school is much more than the
list above indicates. It is a collection of unique people, faculty, staff and
students who understand what a special place this truly has become. I
have said that St. Andrew’s is not about a transaction, a situation where
one trades one asset for another. But rather it is about the transformation of lives, of changing people for the better, the adults as well as the
students. Over and over again I hear students say how St. Andrew’s has
been a family for them and here they have become the people they
were meant to be. This is such a unique situation and I encourage the
entire St. Andrew’s family to embrace that image of transformation for
now and the future. It is what makes us different and it is why people
love this little school.
Senior Self Portraits scattered
throughout this annual report were
created by the class of 2015.
I want to thank you all for making our time here very special and for all
that you do to support the school. So for Sheila, Patrick, Conor, J.R. and
me, we want to say thank you one last time and may God continue to
bless St. Andrew’s School.
Sincerely,
John D. Martin
Welcome
It has been with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I have begun
my first year serving St. Andrew’s School as the 8th Headmaster.
I am ever grateful to join this extraordinary learning community the
other students and their remarkable teachers. Our beautiful campus
is energized with a love of learning that brings us together, a place
where education is embraced and young minds are empowered with
the knowledge and tools to find their own path to success. I am excited at the opportunity to get to know each child’s academic
strengths, personal interests, and aspirations for life. I look forward
to sharing each other’s challenges and celebrating the joys of discovering new passions. It has been wonderful to witness the students
from the many cultures on campus connect with a common sense of
purpose. They inspire me every day.
My vision for the school is two-fold. First, to preserve the valued traditions for our school community and second, for St. Andrew’s to become
the educational leader in personalized learning. Our traditions, whether
it be sharing ideas at morning meeting or climbing a mountain together,
have connected us to each other and St. Andrew’s rich history. As
St. Andrew’s continues its journey, committing to our traditions as
well as forming some new rituals is essential as we look to the future. My ongoing conversations with alumni confirm a common thread
distinct to St. Andrew’s culture, that of community and our focus
on each individual student. This approach, where each individual’s
strengths are fostered, has been our teaching philosophy for over 100
years. Now called ‘personalized learning,’ the opportunity has arrived
for St. Andrew’s to lead in this pedagogical approach. Truly, it is an
exciting time in the history of St. Andrew’s School.
I hope that together we can continue to contribute our varied skills,
strengths, and resources to make St. Andrew’s the best it can
possibly be. With my very best wishes,
David J. Tinagero
“It has been wonderful to witness
the students from the many cultures
on campus connect with a common
sense of purpose. They inspire me
every day.”
“A gift to St. Andrew’s is an
investment in a child’s future.”

Alumni Veterans Wall
The classes from the 1960’s decade funded a project to honor their classmates who served in the armed services. The
gift of the Alumni Veterans Wall is located in the Gardiner
Dining Hall for our community to honor our veterans.
As a communiy, we loved the idea and would like to grow our
Alumni Veterans Wall to include Veterans from every class.
In order to accomplish this, however, we need your help.
If you are interested in helping us grow this wall, or you
know of a student or staff member who has been or is
currently enlisted, please contact the development office
by email at [email protected], or by calling
(401) 246-1230.
Ideally, we would love to have a member of each class work
with the development office as their class’ point person.
INFORAMTION WE NEED TO INCLUDE A CLASS MATE ON THE
ALUMNI VETERANS WALL:
Name of Student.
Year graduated St. Andrew’s.
What branch of Armed Services they were enlisted.
Years of service.
If possible, please include documentation to show the
above information is correct.
