Spring 2016
NEW Online
Banking!
It seems like not long ago
BAECU was introducing
PCTeller online banking. But
it was actually introduced way
back in 2006. While it has served
us well for all these years, it’s time for an upgrade!
Coming this Spring, we are introducing a NEW online
banking service. As you’ve come to expect from your
Credit Union, we’ve listened to your suggestions for
improvements. Here are some of the enhancements
the new online banking will provide.
• No annual fees
• Fixed rates and payments
• Apply over the phone • We cover the appraisal!*
Greater security – Gone are the days of using your
account number during the login process. The new
system allows you to choose your own Username.
Additional security features include: Advanced data
encryption technology to help prevent unauthorized
access, two-way secure messaging, timed logouts, and
last session details/event log.
Take advantage of these excellent rates from your
Credit Union through May 31st!
Online registration & password resets – You’ll no
longer need the help of Account Servicing to sign up
for online banking, or to reset your password.

FRAUD
...and its
effect on you
We all fear becoming a victim of identity
theft or fraud. Checking your credit
report, using our free eAlerts service, and
being vigilant about your account all help
you protect yourself from falling victim.
Here are some other instances you may
not have thought of…
Traveling
Some of the highest instances of fraud in
this country happen in travel destinations
such as Florida, Texas, and California.
Fraudsters in these areas often target
debit cards. Because of that, we ask that
you notify us if you’re traveling out of state
and intend to use your debit card. This
will help us monitor possible fraudulent
transactions. We also recommend you
have more than one form of payment
available to you when traveling (credit
cards, cash, traveler’s cheques).
Password Security
Recent research has found that many
people re-use online passwords. With so
many sites asking you to log in and create
a password, people often find it easiest to
re-use passwords. Even with outstanding
virus protection and anti-spyware, you
could still be at risk. How you ask? The
websites you visit keep login information in
a database. If cyber thieves target that site
and steal your login info, they could then
target your financial accounts using the
stolen password.
The browser security service, Trusteer,
recommends you have at least three sets
of passwords: one for financial web sites
only, another for nonfinancial sites that
house sensitive info about you, and a
third for web sites that don’t contain any
confidential information at all.
