Recorder
Offered in Terms 3 & 4
TUTOR
Chris Dann
COURSE INFORMATION
The recorder is an ancient
instrument and a very good
instrument for anyone to learn as
the start to their musical career.
Many of our Soundworks teachers
began with recorder!
It is inexpensive (you probably
already have one in your home
somewhere!) and portable, and in
recorder lessons participants begin
developing music-reading, finger
independence, co-ordination and
group playing skills.
The recorder, when played well, has
a beautiful sound. The common
descant recorder is part of a family
of recorders that range from the tiny
sopranino to the large bass recorder.
It is an instrument which can easily
lead on later to taking part in
woodwind groups and eventually
other chamber music groups.
Additionally, a student can easily
transfer from recorder to flute,
clarinet or saxophone if that’s a
pathway that attracts you.
So start your musical career today
and enroll in our next recorder
course!
Course materials cost:
$5.00 - This covers the cost of all
photocopying and a clear-file for
your music.
NB: If you are planning to buy a
recorder, please purchase a Yamaha
or Aulos brand.
