LEGENDS
HOPE VI PROPERTIES
Under the HOPE VI Urban Revitalization Program, the Memphis
Housing Authority and its partners have developed a national
redevelopment model to revitalize former distressed public housing
developments. The City of Memphis remains steadfast in its
commitments to provide available resources and technical support to
assist with the overall redevelopment effort and revitalization of our
distressed neighborhoods.
Since 1995, the City of Memphis has been awarded over $144,000,000
in HOPE VI Program funds alone, leveraged to $375,000,000 to
facilitate redevelopment activities at five former public housing sites.
In addition to the redevelopment of over 2,200 affordable, public
housing, and market rate new and rehabilitated rental and for-sale
housing units. These major transformation initiatives, will encourage
local and minority business development, as well as transform the lives
of public housing residents through achievement of economic selfsufficiency.
