Empty and rinse containers. Containers
with contents remaining cannot be
recycled and can harm workers or
damage machinery. Rinsing helps reduce
odours and pests.
Add materials loose to the recycling
container. Only shredded paper should be
inside a see-through plastic bag before
being added to recycling.
Save space by flattening boxes and
cartons. Stack containers that held the
same contents, such as yogurt pots.

Place loose in container. Remove from
plastic wrap.

Place shredded paper in a securely-tied
see-through plastic bag (no opaque,
coloured, or black bags).
