I would like to congratulate all members and our
Club team for a very successful 5th Anniversary
Celebration that was fittingly held the weekend
before Veterans Day. The weekend was highlighted by a Saturday morning flyby of four military
planes, followed by golf and tennis tournaments
that included participation by over 300 members.
A slide presentation was shown that featured
members of the Mirasol family in their military
uniforms. We served over 1,600 meals, and the festivities concluded with
a grand fireworks display and a raffle of a 2009 BMW donated by Braman
Motorcars of Palm Beach. Henry and Arlene Friedman of Quantera won the
BMW! As a result of member participation, the support of Taylor Morrison,
the generosity of our vendors, and the hard work of the Club team, we were
able to send Tee It Up for the Troops, Inc. a check for $35,250. What a great
way to celebrate our fifth anniversary and pay tribute to those who have
sacrificed so much to protect our freedom!

Dear Mirasol Members,
As the holiday season approaches, I wanted to remind everyone of the
importance of properly informing their visiting guests and family of the
Club policies. Each member is responsible for the actions and behavior
of their guests. Please confirm the dress code for any event when you are
making reservations, so that we can eliminate any embarrassing situations.
If your guests would prefer to frequent and utilize the Club amenities
without you, please remember to register your guests with the Membership
Office and make sure they carry a Guest Card at all times. This will
inform the Club team that they are permitted to enjoy all of your Club
privileges. We look forward to serving your guests and making you
proud during their stay. And one final reminder, most December Club
events are open 30 days in advance and will fill up quickly, so make your
reservations early!
I am so pleased that many of you are taking advantage of a few of the new
dining options at the Club. Our Sunrise Breakfast menu is offered every
Sunday morning from 8 a.m.-11 a.m. in the Main Dining Room. The
breakfast has replaced our Sunday Brunch, and many members are enjoying
the breakfast as a great way to start their day. Our Sunset Dining menu is
offered Monday-Saturday evenings between 5 p.m.-6 p.m. in the Grille
Room. This three-course menu has proved to be a great value at $14.95,
and has been a refreshing dining option for those who don’t mind eating
a little early.
Please join me in congratulating the 2008 Men’s Club Champion, Michael
Robinson, the 2007 Men’s Club Champion, Jimmy Key, and the 2008
Men’s Senior Club Champion, Jan Blick, for their great playing in the
National Club Championship at TPC Sawgrass.
On behalf of my wife Sharon, and our four children, Jack, Julia, Jordan,
and Ryan, I want to wish all of the Mirasol family a safe and happy holiday
season and a healthy New Year.
Wishing you health and happiness.
Sincerely,
Matt Lambert, CCM

Florida in fall 2009 and will play tennis

Greetings! The season is upon us and these are just a few reminders to ensure an enjoyable and successful season.
PACE OF PLAY
At Mirasol, a round of golf should be completed in four hours or less. One of the main reasons for slow play is not
being ready to play when it is your turn. When you get to the tee, immediately select your club and be prepared to
play. When you reach the green, don’t wait until it’s your turn to examine your putt, examine your putt while
everyone else is examining theirs.
We have clocks positioned at three stations on each course to assist you in self-regulating your pace. These clocks
are back-timed to indicate your actual starting time if you are on pace, or earlier if you are ahead of the four-hour
pace. Your golf course monitors are also there to assist everyone in having an enjoyable day.
CELL PHONES
Cell phones are prohibited with exceptions of emergency. If you have extenuating circumstances and you receive a call on your cell
phone, please remove yourself from the proximity of your fellow members (the driving range, chipping green, putting green, etc.) and
handle the call promptly. If on the course, make sure not to interfere with the enjoyment of your playing companions, and play should
by no means be delayed.
DRESS CODE
Please be aware of the dress code as it relates to golf. The golf dress code, which differs from other areas of the Club, is prominently displayed in both the men’s and women’s locker rooms and is available on the Club’s Web site. The golf dress code applies to all golf facilities, including the practice facilities. If you have any questions, please contact the Pro Shop or see any member of the golf staff.
TIP OF THE MONTH
I have spent a lot of time discussing the fundamentals of the full swing and short game. I have also written about ways to play the unusual
shots that we occasionally come across during a round of golf. We have not discussed one of the more, if not the most, important aspect of
golf, which is the mental side of the game.
I have found that most players attempt shots that they have little chance of hitting successfully. While playing golf, it is important to
understand your limitations. When deciding what type of shot to play and what club to use, make sure you select a shot which you can
play confidently. Once you have made your choice, commit to that shot and concentrate on the process of playing the shot successfully.
Many times, your shot selection may seem to be very conservative. I think that feeling comes from the fact that you’re playing shots which
give you confidence and don’t require a miracle to have a successful result. I know this sounds simple but, amazingly, most of us do not
make good decisions on the course. Make good decisions and commit to that decision and see your scores improve!
To assist you with the mental side of the game, we will be holding a free seminar for our membership on December 9 at 4 p.m., with
Tim Kremer from the Spirit of Golf Company. I recently attended one of Tim’s seminars and found it very helpful and informative, so I
hope you will join us. You can sign up through the ForeTees Tee Time System under Event Sign-up or contact the Pro Shop.
See you on the links,
Terry McDowell
Golf Course Maintenance Notes
It has been a great start to the season at Mirasol, and
the holidays are just around the corner! I wanted to
take a moment to remind you and your guests to
please fix your ball marks, fill your fairway divots, and
rake out any bunker play. I also ask that you return
caddie rakes to their locations around the outside of
the bunkers. This will not only help both golf courses,
but will help make everyone’s golfing experience the
best one possible, no matter when their tee time is!
On average, a ball mark or fairway divot can take up to two weeks to completely heal, and when slow-growing conditions occur during the cooler
months, it could take even longer if the spots are not properly fixed right away.
Your maintenance staff will continue to fix ball marks and fill divots, however,
we always appreciate any assistance that you and your guests can provide.
See you on the course,
Michael Thomas

Stress Sends Clients to
Session Rooms
Stress relief and relaxation are the leading
reasons clients turn to massage therapy,
according to a new national survey, the
results of the 12th consumer survey
conducted by the American Massage
Therapy Association.
Despite the challenging economy, clients
are still making massage a priority.
“People continue to seek massage because
it provides multiple therapeutic benefits,
including stress relief, at an affordable
price,” said AMTA President M.K.
Brennan, RN. “Massage therapy has not
only been shown to reduce anxiety and
depression, but it can also relieve stress
symptoms like chronic migraines and
high blood pressure.”
The survey also found:
• 38% of Americans received massage for
stress reduction and relaxation in the
last five years, compared with just 22%
last year.
• 38% said they have considered regular
massage to manage stress.
• 45% said they are greatly stressed by the
current economic situation or other factors.
• Younger Americans in lower income
groups, making less than $25,000 a year,
said they would consider massage to
manage stress.
• People with higher income, $50,000 or
more a year, are discussing massage
therapy with their physicians as a way
of reducing stress.
• 57% of those who talked to their doctor
say their doctor strongly recommended
or encouraged them to get a massage to
manage their stress.
“As perceptions regarding the multiple
benefits of massage evolve, its most prevalent evangelists are doctors,” said Brennan.
“This trend will continue as more doctors
refer patients to massage therapists and see
how it can help their patients recover from
injuries, alleviate pain, and ease stress.”
The Esplanade is very aware of the challenging economic times and will be offering new treatment options to help with
our changing times.

ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION 11
Mirasol’s 5th Anniversary Celebration Recap
On November 8 and 9, we honored our veterans, both inside the Mirasol gates and
throughout the country, by working with Tee It Up for the Troops, Inc. to bring our
members a festive and patriotic celebration!
Our 5th Anniversary Celebration weekend began with a speech from Matt Lambert,
followed by a spectacular flyby of four T-34 jets, provided by the Visiting Nurses
Association Air Show, and a presentation of colors by members of the United States
Marine Corps. The ceremony was capped off by a performance of The Star Spangled
Banner by Jupiter’s William T. Dwyer High School Army JROTC.
Golf and tennis tournaments followed with more than 300 members participating.
See the GOLF and TENNIS sections of this issue of Mirador for the big winners! The
luncheon that followed included a speech by retired Lt. Colonel Harry Wisdom of
Tee It Up for the Troops, Inc. and a slide show of photos submitted by members of
our community who served in the United States Armed Forces themselves, as well as
family of members and the Mirasol staff who have served. Saturday’s festivities ended
with our annual cocktail party out by the pool, attended by over 400 members.
Sunday was a day for families and began with an early morning yoga class and 5k
walk. The weekend’s festivities concluded Sunday evening on the driving range, with
food stations, a rock wall, a bounce house, and the sounds of Hot Brass Monkey.
LTC Wisdom pulled the winning BMW raffle ticket (his own!), and very generously
donated it back to the Club so that our members would have a chance to win. The
car was eventually won by Henry and Arlene Friedman of Quantera. The 5th
Anniversary Celebration went out with a bang as we all enjoyed a fantastic fireworks
show over the driving range.
The Mirasol staff also lent their support to Tee It Up for the Troops, Inc. by donating
over $1,500 to the organization from their own raffle. Matt Lambert won an allexpense paid trip to Hawaii as a result of a drawing at a local event he attended,
and he turned it over to the Mirasol team as a thank you for their hard work. Sixty
employees participated in the Hawaii trip raffle, and our newest Mirastar and
accounting coordinator, Shawn Small, won the trip.
After the event, Matt Lambert said, “I was honored that Mirasol could support such
a worthy organization once again this season, and the community spirit that was
exhibited during the course of the weekend made the events even more exciting. I
think that it is important to remember the sacrifices that have been made and continue
to be made every day by the men and women of the United States Armed Forces,
and I appreciate the continued support and generosity of our membership!”
Whether you participated in one of the tournaments, attended the cocktail party,
slide show, raffle, or the weekend closing festivities, we thank you for your support
of Tee It Up for the Troops, Inc., and your support of the Club!
